Mummy Dogs with Pus...

I know, you've seen these all over Pinterest...but have you made them?!? Well you should. I did, and I had no one to serve them to but the mister and let me tell you, he was tickled. Tickled I tell you! He said, "I don't know what you did to these hotdogs but they are the best damn things I've ever tasted." Snicker-Snicker...proof once again that he has NO sense of taste...hot dogs wrapped in dough...sheesh! For the game Monday night, the mister requested "game food"...we had left-over pumpkin chili but he didn't want that ("My arse can't take any more fire food!") and you can't get any more "game" than hotdogs!
So easy you really don't need a recipe...just a can of refrigerated bread sticks (I used Pillsbury) and a package of hot dogs. And some pus. Mustard makes excellent pus. By calling mustard pus, it somehow seems to look like it and then it becomes very difficult to dip your dog...but be brave and go for it!

There are 12 breadsticks in the Pillsbury roll, I cut each breadstick into 3 thin strips and used 2 to 2 1/2 strip per hotdog. One roll of breadsticks made 4 mummy dogs with a few "bones" left over. (To make bread bones tie the ends of the breadsticks into knots.)

Make three slits in the hotdog...two for arms, one for legs. Wrap the strips of breadstick dough around the hotdogs, leaving a little opening for the face/eyes...two dots of mustard/pus make great eyes!

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes...voila! Mummy Dogs! Bones! What more could your Zombie want?!?

The mister thoroughly enjoyed these and I'm sure, if my kids had been here, they would have, too! While I'm not particularly a fan of hotdogs, I have to admit, I did get some pleasure in dipping a leg into pus and biting it off...wonder what that says about me?!?
