The first of my twins is done...I pieced two tops at our quilt retreat in September and after adding borders, both quilts turned out larger than I had planned!  They really weren't too big for me to quilt but I just didn't feel like wrestling with them so I sent them out to be quilted - something I rarely do.

It's the perfect fall quilt...golds, browns and oranges - I just wanted to wrap up in it, so I did, and then I went outside into the back yard to walk around and see the leaves and what all needs to be done...one thing led to another and soon the quilt was hanging in the tree and I was on all fours pulling weeds!  I kind of like it hanging there...next to my other prize possessions! Caesar Beezer The Wonder Dog likes it, too...in fact, he likes all of my quilts and claims them as his own, which isn't a problem until I reach for one, and then he freaks out and tries to bite me! DSCN7114

This quilt was pieced with scraps left over from it's twin...I cut way too many rectangles and while I had no intention of making two quilts with the same scraps, I just couldn't resist!  I'm calling this my Harvest Quilt because even though it's rather vintage looking, sort of 1970-ish, it's also a very apple-picking-leaf-raking-bonfire-making-marshmallow-roasting-cider-sipping-kind-of-quilt, no? Barbara Jackson did the quilting - I told her to do whatever she wanted and she surprised me by quilting a beautiful leaf pattern all over...it's really amazing!!  I just love how it turned out...it's warm, soft and basically yummy!  It's definitely fall in the great Northwest...there are still a few leaves on the trees, but most of them are on the ground - all traces of Halloween are gone and we've moved right into Thanksgiving...I'm so thankful for this time of year and a few weeks of peace before the craziness!
