Remember the song, "I Feel Pretty" from
"I feel lucky, Oh, so lucky,I feel lucky and witty and bright! And I pity any girl who isn't me tonight."
Lucky because I was asked to review two kitchen products from Nordic Ware for you! I'm sure you all own some Nordic Ware - they make wonderful bakeware and cookware and they make Bundt pans! I was given their new Zoo Animals Pancake Pan and their Bundt Tea Cakes and Candies Pan to review...so let's get to it!
First let me say, I would definitely recommend this adorable pan! It comes with a recipe for buttermilk pancakes on the package and I used that recipe - it was wonderful! At first I had a bit of trouble flipping the little pancakes and getting them back into their "assigned spots" - practice made perfect (it's all in the wrists!) and soon I was flipping them like a pro! If only Baby Max had been here to eat them with me - speaking of Max...
He would have loved the monkey face on his pancake...or lion, which was my personal favorite.
Two tablespoons of batter per pancake is what the recipe called for but I found a tablespoon and a half worked better - and the recipe made 16 mini pancakes. Slathered with Challenge Butter (only the BEST butter around - I especially like their Spreadable Butter!) and dripping with syrup, these pancakes were a hit!
Definitely Two Thumbs Up!
Max would have also loved the little tea cakes I make with the new Bundt Tea Cakes and Candies Pan...they are just his size!
The Bundt Tea Cakes and Candies Pan is really FUN! It comes with a recipe on the packaging for Raspberry Truffles...but I opted to make Mini Irish Orange Sponge Cakes, click on the highlight for the recipe - it's dang good! The secret to using this kind of baking pan is to spray it with cooking spray, really well, then flip it over and let the excess drain out on paper toweling. Since I was making sweet cakes, I opted to dust my pan with SUGAR, but you could use flour, and then it's ready to be filled!
Putting the batter into a Zip-lock style bag and squeezing it into the tins works beautifully. If you use my recipe or a cake mix, the baking time will be about 15 minutes. When the pan is removed from the oven, let it sit on a rack to cool for about 10 minutes then invert and watch them fall out. The Irish Sponge Cakes that I made are very light and airy. I finished off my cakes with an orange glaze that soaks into the cakes and a dollop of whipped cream - in a two words...MOST EXCELLENT and they are as pretty as they are good!
Now think about these for Mother's Day! What mom wouldn't love to add these great products to her kitchen? Or better yet...how about surprising her with them AND the beautiful and fun food they make?!? The next time you're in your favorite kitchen store - take a look at the Zoo Animal Pancake Pan and the Bundt Tea Cakes and Candies Pan...they're both keepers!
