Seattle has had more than it's share of snow lately and once again the weatherman is telling us that we could have another significant snow event in a few days! I am probably only one of two or three people in the entire state who is thrilled at the thought of more snow - but I do love it! In an effort to help those friends of mine who are sick of the snow and pining for Spring, I'm going to share my snow ice cream recipe...because this will have them praying for snow every night!
If you have a metal bowl, use it, it will keep the snow cold while you mix the rest of the ingredients. Then you will need snow. Fresh, clean, white snow. Eating yellow/brown snow is never advised. You will need 8 cups of snow. If you can stand the cold, make the ice cream outside so everything stays nice and frozen. But if you can't be outside, then work quickly inside!
Heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract (or any flavoring you want) is then mixed in and voila! Your ice cream is ready to eat!
Add whatever toppings you want - I just wanted some sprinkles - but a drizzle of chocolate or caramel would have been nice!
Right after I served the mister some snow cream, the doorbell rang and it was our neighbor, who had trudged up through the snow to bring us his snowed-in-creation...mushrooms stuffed with cheese and steak pieces then wrapped in bacon and grilled. He won that round! They were dang delicious! So I gave him the rest of the snow ice cream as a thank you - and if I can get his recipe from him I'll pass it along!
