I've been such a slacker this year - hardly touching my quilting projects. Perhaps I'm in a quilting rut, perhaps I'm just overwhelmed with life, perhaps I'm getting older at breakneck speed and am not able to do what I used to do? Perhaps. Or maybe I've just been waiting for the right moment to dive back into my fabrics, training for the quilting-marathon-making-Christmas-gifts that always happens between now and December 25th. Or maybe I'm just lazy...but my quilting friends sure aren't! They showed up for our meeting with beautiful quilts and one even brought a special guest! Please say hello to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg!
Stephanie brought law and order to our meeting, and a very large gavel! We met at Denise's home and it was so fun to see some of her fall quilts - like visiting old friends - even though the picture is blurry, I think we can agree circle quilts are a good idea!
Denise had this beautiful embroidered picture on her wall - Barbara thought I made it and gave it away...nope, would not have done that! Then someone thought it was purchased from a garage sale Barbara had but she said she wouldn't have given it away...so no one really knows where this came from but Denise and all of us love it!
At one of our Christmas gift exchanges, Stephanie brought this darling felted wool piece and Denise was the lucky gal who took it home - we all like seeing our things again, especially when we don't remember making them and I think Stephanie was surprised to see this displayed on Denise's piano.
Terry showed us her latest and "last" quilt she said she will make using Yukata cotton kimono fabrics. The fabrics are indigo-dyed fabrics, which gives them their rich and unique color. This quilt is between a king and a queen size - so pretty dang big!
Terry has been busy stitching up some darling blocks for her next Halloween quilt...I don't know where she finds the time to do all the things she does! As always, her blocks are perfect and as pretty on the back side as they are on the front!
These are two different projects that Terry is working on - both are kits that come with just the background fabric and then Terry adds the wool pieces and appliques them into place. They will be cut apart and made into banners - to hang from a mantel maybe - super cute! Terry bought two extra kits and when she offered them to our group I said I would happily buy them. The next day Terry was at my door GIVING me the kits!!! How sweet is that?
Terry brought this "swan-like" gourd from her trip to Vermont - and she told us Vermont has got nuthin' on us when it comes to beautiful leaves! She also brought this very cute Halloween quilt and offered the pattern to whoever wanted it as she won't be making another one!
This is Marsha's snowman quilt made using a cut-apart panel. Just the blocks with snowmen are from the panel, the rest is all pieced by Marsha. I love red and white quilts, no matter what the theme!
This humongous quilt was made by Stephanie - it was a "WOW" moment when she unfurled this! It's happy and bright and I love, love, love it! I don't suppose this will be Stephanie's gift this year for our exchange, but one can hope!
Justice Ginsburg holds up this beautiful quilt top made by Jenny. Jenny said she started this ten years ago - we all loved it - way to go Jenny, not giving up after 10 years!! This is a pattern from Blackbird Designs.
Barbara made this super cute Halloween/Fall zig-zag quilt - just in time for trick-or-treaters! Barbara and I live in the same neighborhood, just a few streets away from each other and she gets about 150 trick-or-treaters and we get 30...maybe she gives away quilts instead of candy?
This is one of Denise's quilts that was folded over her sofa. I think she said it was one of the first quilts she made - it's beautiful and so soft - just the way a quilt should be! This is why it's fun to go to each other's homes for our meetings, we get to see their quilts! We had a great time as usual, and this was overheard at our meeting, "She thought she was buying SCRAPS but she bought CRAP(s)!" The Dyslexic Quilter strikes again!
Happy November to you - hope wherever you are you're enjoy the last of the leaves, pumpkin-spice something, and planning your T-Day menu, because it's never too early to do that!
