It was my turn to host quilt group, something I always look forward to. It's so fun to see everyone and their quilts, to see what they've been working on and to catch up on their lives a bit...so there is always a lot of chatting! We can have three or four different conversations going at the same time, if anyone was spying on us they would think we were a therapy group who needs therapy! Lucky for us quilting is our therapy!
Diane started off our show and tell by showing us a quilt that her mother-in-law, who recently passed away, made for her husband when he was born. Her MIL saved this quilt for him - he's now in his 60's! This quilt is all hand stitched and even though it's old, and a bit faded, it is beautiful and was lovingly cared for.
From an old fashioned baby quilt to a new fashioned one! This adorable little quilt was made by Terry and her grand-daughter who helped her with the sewing! She must be a chip off the old block, by golly! This quilt is all Terry's design, so clever and cute and she calls it the T-Rex quilt, of course!
Terry was very busy last month, she brought in several quilts for us to oogle over...this red, black and white quilt was randomly pieced - sorry about the blurry picture! I would have edited my pictures but I now have no editing available to me! I had a new hard drive put and while I was promised everything would be the same, it is not! For years I have used Picassa to edit my pictures, now Picassa is no more...it's been updated to Google Pictures...which means I'll have to hire some kid to come show me how to use it because I can't seem to make it work! Oy vey!
This Japanese quilt of Terry's is so beautiful and it has a lot of meaning for her and her husband. One of those "circle badges" is Terry's husband's mother's crest and another is his father's. Pretty special!
This was the last quilt Terry showed us - another cute Christmas quilt...I love the Christmas lights that are machine appliqued onto the quilt! Terry does beautiful work!
Helen's quilt is fresh from the quilter (Terry) so we asked her to show it to us again - it just needs the binding and then this beauty will be ready for Santa...who will be here in 234 days!
That's Stephanie barely peeking out from behind her latest creation - a sweet, pink baby quilt. Our group made those blocks for one of our group projects a few years back - they look super cute in this quilt! Makes me wonder where the orange blocks I received ended up? Probably in my "aging" basket...I will sew no quilt before it's time!
The star of our show and tell this month wasn't a quilt, nope, it was this white chocolate and strawberry birthday cake Marsha made for Janet's birthday. And no one minded one forkful being upstaged by a cake!
Thanks Marsha for your delicious cake and Happy birthday Janet!
