Sad to say but I missed the last quilt group meeting because I was in the Carolina's...and it was MY turn to receive blocks! All is good though, as my blocks were given to me when I got home and I could not be happier about how they turned out!
Cool, right? I asked the ladies to make me 9-inch Churn Dash blocks in gray/tan/black/cream/mustard...and these are perfect! I'm planning on making a queen-size bed quilt so I will be adding a lot more blocks but this is such a great start! Thanks to my quilting friends!! I was thinking I could get this quilt whipped up before our next meeting...hahahahahaha...but too many things have gotten in the way!
While the ladies were showing their quilts, I was going in and out of antique shops, in my never ending quest to find the perfect plates for Thanksgiving...I added two more to my stack...and if I got my quilt put together and quilted I could use it for a tablecloth! Now that would be a pretty table! The two plates above were just too pretty to pass up, and they work well with my others! I always look for brown transferware but it's hard to find and even harder to find within my budget!
The plates above are more of my Thanksgiving plates...I think they are more fun than using matchy-matchy plates - not that there's anything wrong with that, as you can see, I have plenty of turkey plates that match (in the stack on the right) but I do like mixing things up a bit! Since we wait all year for Thanksgiving to roll around again, it's not too early for us to start thinking about the big feast. I've already been auditioning pies for this years feast (just adding to the long list we already have, never deleting, one can not have too many pies!) and so far I have one new pie that made the cut! I'll be sharing that with you soon because you are going to want it!
I kind of like the way those plates look in the pics, maybe there's another circle quilt in my future? Brown, gold, rust, cream...wouldn't that make a great quilt/tablecloth for Thanksgiving?!? I just need more TIME!!!
