Oh no silly, I'm not selling this quilt for $15! That would be crazy! No, no, no, that's what I PAID for this quilt top...$15 at a garage sale. It was too good to pass up even though I'm not a "blue person"...but this quilt just might have changed that! I LOVE how it turned out!! As in really love it!
The lady who sold this quilt top said there was just no way she would ever finish it. She said it had been sitting, waiting to be quilted for "at least a year!" Well, little did she know that's just part of the "aging process!" Most quilters don't talk about that - rather - they don't like owning up to just how many tops they have waiting to be quilted...aging is how I like to refer to it...I shall quilt no quilt before it's time! I did try to tell her this but she was determined to get rid of it and so I saw it as my solemn duty to take it off her hands. For $15. It was like taking candy from a baby. A big baby. I almost felt guilty...
But I quickly got over any guilt, paid the lady, got in my car and sped off before she could change her mind! I have to admit, when I birthed this beauty - ahem, gently pulled it from the dryer, I had a very fleeting thought...that maybe I should return this quilt - go and leave it on the lady's doorstep. Like I said, it was fleeting...
The blue is happy! What was I thinking not being a "blue person?!?" I love it! I've moved this quilt all around my house - auditioning it in every room - I haven't settled on a permanent place for it yet, but I know one thing, any thoughts I had of returning it, or giving it to my "blue" sister for Christmas have been banished!
This one is going to stay at the hacienda where I can see it, pet it and perhaps even use it on a regular basis. And no, mother, you can't have it either! But I will let you curl up in it when you come to visit!
This quilt measures 56-inches by 74-inches, has Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting and was machine quilted in a large-random stipple by yours truly.
