If you can spell Puyallup without Google you are probably a native Washingtonian. If you can say it correctly then you're definitely a native or you've got Indian blood or you are a regular Washington State Fair attendee and you've had the Fair song stuck in your head for so long the pronounciation has imprinted on your brain...pew-al-up. See? Nothing to it. Not only is the State Fair in Puyallup but every February Sew Expo arrives with dozens and dozens of fabric vendors, sewing machines, notions, patterns - you name it! It has been years since our quilt group did the Puyallup (now I really do have the song stuck in my head!) so after a brief meeting we carpooled down to the fairgrounds to Sew Expo.
Before we left we had just a few things to oooogle over. Neva brought this bag her friend made from window screen. Years ago several of us made bags like this but Neva's bag is pretty awesome because it has outside pockets! (Barbara, you would have loved this!) While we were at Sew Expo we saw a lot of window screen for sale in fabulous bright colors - made we wonder what hot pink would look like on my window screens! Bet the mister would nix that in a hurry!
Neva also brought her "bird" quilt she made for her mom. I've shown you this before but now it's all quilted and just needs to be bound. Such pretty fabrics!
This amazing piece of work was made by Jenny. Just look at all of those triangles! This is so pretty in person - and it's quite big - and Jenny made it for a wedding gift so she's giving it away! The back was just as pretty as the front - it's pieced with a beautiful peacock fabric...
Here's one more look - and a little sneak peak at my Geese in the Forest quilt which I shamlessly show yet again!
I'm not sure I could give this one away...Jenny, Macy's has quilts on sale - maybe you should rethink your gift!! And can you see just how well Jenny's quilt goes with MY quilt?!? Maybe the two should live together...in my house? Just a thought.
That was it! Since we were anxious to get to the show we didn't have a lot to show ourselves. But coming up at the end of March I'm sure we'll have a ton of quilts - and I'm going to have another new one, too! Well, if I get my machine back in time to do some sewing...it died last week but the good news is it CAN be resuscitated!! It will live to sew again!
