This is definitely a high holy day around here...the mister has already started his pre-game routine...he's dressed in a new Seahawks jersey and has on his lucky socks - I had no idea they were lucky - you wouldn't guess by some of the stuff that's happened around here lately! The mister has also read the sports page cover to cover, has his beloved Washington Redskins blanket (he refuses to give up on them and has to be covered in that blanket for every TV game) strategically placed on his sofa, is well into the first ESPN show of the day and has creased the TV section of the newspaper into 4ths so he can easily refer back to game times and such without unfolding...these are important things and they have to be done in order so as not to mess with the mojo. We have season tickets to the Seahawks and had planned on going to the game today but yesterday the mister decided to give away our tickets to a customer...I was a bit bummed, but in the long run I suppose it's better to have business. So we'll be watching the game on TV at home where no one will have to witness the mister frothing at the mouth or screaming at the top of his lungs or going into de-fib from ingesting bacon wrapped tater tots in the middle of a conniption fit. Not to worry, yours truly will be ready with my cell phone to call 9-1-1 if the mister shows any signs of distress...gee, I hope my phone is charged...wonder where it is? Oh well...I'm sure he'll be fine...
Today's menu - Pre-game: Chips, salsa, 7-layer dip, pimento cheese mini sandwiches, bacon-wrapped tater tots and some fresh veggie sticks for color!
Half-time: Crab cakes and lobster bisque, seems only right that we have SEA food for the SEAhawks.
4th Quarter: Lemon Meringue Pie - it's the mister's favorite. I figure if the Seahawks win it will be the perfect ending for our feast and if they lose it might help to calm him down.
Post game: Alka-seltzer with a chaser of Pepcid.
Before I head into the kitchen to prepare the feast, I'll leave you with a few picks from our travels yesterday around the city...The 12th Man flag flies high and proud above the Space Needle and we even saw it flying high above Lake Washington - with blue skies (except for a few pesky clouds)...Blue skies in January, surely that must be some kind of omen! After I had taken about a dozen pictures of the 12th Man flag, I stopped because the flag was everywhere! Every building, every car, every restaurant was flying the flag...GO HAWKS!!
