I have some really wonderful quilts to show you today - unfortunately, with my photography skills being what they are, I wasn't able to do them justice! So use your imagination, squint, click on the pics to make them larger and put on your specs because you'll want to see the details!
Janet made this quilt as a gift - it's really bright and pretty. It's the Invisible 9-patch block, so it comes together quickly but looks like it was a lot of work - which this quilt was as it's HUGE!
Denise brought in this machine appliqued pillow, I can't remember if she made it or if someone gave it to her, it's very pretty! Denise also showed us her jack-o-lantern, paper-pieced blocks...I think she is going to make them into a table runner. Cute!
Stinkin' camera (operator!) This quilt is black, red and white - it's bright and happy and Denise made this for our group project this year - "Home is Where the Heart Is" - we could make anything that represented that phrase. I think 3 people did the project...not yours truly...but I did think about it! Nicely done Denise!
Denise made the little table topper on the left, notice the Prairie Points! Marsha brought in her work in progress - her square in a square quilt and told us how she was able to "assembly line" these blocks...worked great for her. I've never met an assembly line that has worked for me...too much organization!
This quilt was made by Marsha for her husband Cole. Cole was a photographer for The Seattle Times and she put some of his favorite pictures/memories in a quilt for him - I'm sure he will love this!
This is Lori's quilt - made from a block of the month project - it's so, so pretty in person! Lori and I bought this project at the same time, and if you've ever purchased a block of the month project then you know how incredibly expensive it is! It's NOT the way to make a quilt! The patterns call for the blocks to be hand-appliqued...so that's what I did...I got two blocks done, was bored out of my mind and set it aside to "age" where it's been for two years. Lori on the other hand, did one block by hand and then the light-bulb went off in her head and she realized how much simpler it would be to machine-applique the blocks...and so she did! Voila! Lori's quilt is done...my blocks are collecting dust...note to self: copy Lori!
Stephanie went to Machu Picchu and brought back this pillow - it's all hand done and it's spectacular! I think she said she paid about $30 for it...just imagine what it would cost at say Anthropologie!!
We had a guest come to our meeting - and she brought quilts! She wowed us with some of her favorites - Jenny is quite the quilter and we loved seeing her quilts!
Dang it! I took about 14 pictures of Jenny's Alaskan quilt and this is the best one of the bunch! Truly a work of art - and just look at her border!
Another quilt from Jenny...such a show-off! Kidding, we loved seeing her quilts! This one is bright and happy, a log-cabin-trip-around-the-world quilt!
I've shown this before, this is Kareena's quilt but this time it's finished - all of the buttons have been sewn on along with the binding - it's so wonderful! And Kareena is giving this one away! If you're a quilter then you know just how hard it is to give away a quilt - especially one like this! It's not too late Kareena, you can still keep it - Macy's has blankets on sale and I'm sure one of them would make a good substitute!!
I've saved the best for last. This is Helen's quilt. The colors are warm and rich and while the pattern is a simple one, it speaks of tradition, family and home. It has graced Helen's home for years and has always been a favorite in her family. This quilt is a reminder of a loving embrace - when when you're wrapped in a quilt, you're wrapped in love.
Another great quilt meeting - filled with laughter, love and some pretty amazing quilts. I always leave feeling inspired and motivated to get home and sew! And I did...so soon, Grasshopper, I might actually have something to show, too!
