A while back I saw a picture on Pinterest of an Oreo cake...Oreo's stacked up in tiers to look like a cake. I knew instantly that the boy would love it...and he did! The boy is an Oreo freak...no other way to say it, he loves Oreo's and always has. With my niece Gracie, age 15, as my sous chef, we started unwrapping Oreo packages - 18 in all...and we quickly learned we are not professional Oreo stackers!
That's it - not quite what we had intended but Gracie and I were happy with the result and despite what some people said, most of the Oreo's got eaten - mainly by the boy! So it was worth the trouble. Gracie and I actually "glued" some of the Oreo's on with frosting - believe it or not they are slippery little things! I have a few more pics to show you - the fruit carving on the food table was truly spectacular!
The watermelon flower is mind boggling! I must learn to do that! The caterer's name is Jim Heintz, but after this summer he's moving to California so he won't be available but he is really talented! (I'm sure the caterer and the bride's mom hated me putting the Oreo cake on their pretty table, but I had to do it for the boy so I hope they've forgiven me!)
Notice those little blue balls? We had a "work party" a while back and I asked some of my friends to come and help the DIL make them...each little flower had to be pinned on one at a time and it took forever! I think there were 100 of them made for the reception!
Here's a pic of the Wedding Cake - I think it was chocolate, but I really have no idea. I didn't get a chance to eat anything that night but I heard it was good! By the way, as the Mother of the Groom, I had nothing to do with the food or the reception so it was all a surprise to me - which is why I didn't know what the cake was! And speaking of surprises...below is a pic of the boy when he got his first look at his bride. That's the girl taking the picture - she took thousands of pictures while she was here and I've seen TWO!
As wonderful as that picture is, I think my very favorite picture, from the ones I took and the TWO I've been sent, is the one below...my sweet dad helping my boy with this tie, as his little brother (Caesar-Beezer) looks on...
Curiously, Caesar-Beezer does not miss the boy one bit - hasn't asked about him or anything! I have just a few more pics to show you - only because they are SO cute! Little Elsa-Bear was not happy about sitting with the other girls or having her picture taken! (Click on the pic to see a larger version of Elsa screaming at the top of her lungs!)
Poor little thing - tons of people standing around staring at her, no wonder she hated it! It was only seconds before she made her escape! Okay, one last pic - this is my Max, who didn't have to be called twice to come for breakfast. He was the first one there and as long as he had ketchup on his plate he was happy!
Back to the real world - time to let the tile guy in the door - the bathroom is coming along - Ca-Ching! Ca-Ching! Ca-Ching!
