Sit back and relax, I've quite a show for you today!
Stephanie should change her name to Scrappanie, she loves scraps of any size and color! She brought in the blocks she's working on for what is sure to be another scrap quilt masterpiece! Lori made the crib quilt and dust ruffle, above, for one of her grand-daughters, it's now finally quilted and bound - so cute!
The center block was something that was given to Terry, our former member Claudia made it - Terry sewed it into an adorable quite - perfect for Spring!
This is one of Terry's masterpieces - last month I showed her quilts in progress - now they are done and they are spectacular!
Terry was commissioned to make these - her piecing is wonderful as is her quilting - and they are so much more beautiful in person!
If I remember right, Terry just machine-stitched the bunny onto a white square of fabric - and then she machine-appliqued on the bow and flowers - so, so cute!
These quilt tops needed to be shown side by side so you could see they are different. The top on the left was made by Stephanie, the top on the right was made by Marsha. These tops will be quilted by Marsha and then given to the family who recently lost their father. (I also made a quilt for this family - our group made five quilts in all, one for each child and one for the wife, all made with the dad's/husband's dress shirts.)
These are two more of the quilts for the family. The quilt on the left was made by Barbara and has been quilted and bound - Barbara added in the red fabric, but all of the other fabric is from the shirts. If you look closely you can see Barbara used the button-fronts of the shirts - very clever! The quilt on the right was pieced by Kareena, it's also been quilted and bound. I know this family will love these quilts and hopefully they'll get some comfort from them.
Last month Denise brought in her black and red pieced hearts that she had been working on, this month, she brought in the paper-pieced houses that she is going to add in with the hearts - this is a work in progress and I'm already looking forward to next month to see what she comes up with!
Two more of Denise's creations...a Halloween table runner made from fabric that was gifted by Terry! And a very sweet child's apron/smock - a lot of us commented that WE used to have smocks as children! I'm thinking I need one for me again!
Ardith brought in her quilt top that she is making for her grandson - she went with a nautical/ocean theme and found some really fun fabrics. Ardith asked our opinion about borders, and I'm sure she was sorry she did because she got several! Maybe next month we'll see it with the borders on!
Neva is making this HUGE quilt for her sister (I think) and her sister picked the fabric in the center of the blocks - the busy fabric. It's very bright and happy and Neva said her sister will love it! Hopefully she won't use it as a dog quilt like MY sister did with a quilt I gave her...I'm still not over that!
This quilt by Terry is so deceptive! Doesn't it look like she used fleece in the background? Well, it does to me! Terry machine-appliqued on the circles, on her long-arm, I don't know how that was possible but she does the impossible all the time. And the circles are raw-edge! Yet another fabulous circle quilt!
Above is Helen's quilt...if you have a photographic memory and an eagle-eye, then you might think you've seen this one before...well, sort of...here's the before:
Helen showed us this top in January, and after we oohed and aahed, Helen went home and tore out the yellow - apparently she didn't like it as much as the rest of us! And then Helen did what she does best, she just started sewing, no pattern, no plan, and she came up with the quilt above. I have to say, Helen always knows best!
Two more that you might remember seeing...the quilt on the left was made by Helen and she brought it in to show us she had hand-quilted it...it's truly beautiful...it's a small quilt and every time I see I think I want one just like it...just need to find the time! Denise brought in her stitched piece above and asked for our opinion on how to frame it...of course, we all gave her our opinions...and now we'll wait and see what she does with them...opinions are a dime a dozen, maybe only 5 cents in our case!
Kareena made this snowman top - after it's quilted she will sew on the eyes, nose and buttons...just imagine them for now - it's going to be great! This was a free pattern Kareena found, click here for the pattern, which was made by A.E. Nathan Company and was posted on the Quilt Inspiration blog as a free pattern. I really want to make this quilt, but not with blue (because there is no blue in Christmas at my house!) so I'm thinking of making it with forest green blocks...you know, the snowman in the forest thing, might work, yes?
Kareena hosted us and she made the most wonderful lunch - I thought I'd leave you with some pictures to drool over...Tomato and Ham Quiche, Salmon Quiche (it was Good Friday so we had to have fish!) and Zucchini Quiche...one is never enough with Kareena! Also a fabulous salad with fresh greens, feta cheese and pecans and Ina Garten's Roasted Brussel Sprouts - they were SO good! We also had a yummy dessert - a raspberry slice with whipped cream...Kareena outdid herself! So that's it - another great meeting filled with beautiful quilts, friends and food!
