The mister dislikes my quilt group meetings because I don't answer my phone for about three hours so he can't get hold of me to regale me with the fascinating details of his day, like he walked to the bank and three bums hit him up for money...or that he called one of his worker's cell phones only to find it was a wrong number and the woman who answered sounded just like his mother and screamed at him. Or that there was no traffic on 4th Avenue. The mister calls me about 20 times a day...no kidding..."Is it raining out there? Did you pick up the moss killer? Did I tell you I was out of shaving cream? Did the trash guys come? The pain in my hip is back. I've got a splitting headache. What are we having for dinner?" And on and on...so when I told the mister I was going to my quilt group meeting and would be incommunicado, he grunted, "What's so important that you can't answer your phone?" Duh. Everything. Especially at Quilt Group! I'm thinking of telling the mister that Quilt Group will now be held five days a week! And in a perfect world, Quilt Group would be every day...it's always so much fun!
Stephanie created these CD weavings with her school kids and now they will be part of an exhibit at the Bellevue Arts Museum!! She asked everyone in our group to contribute, too, if we wanted, and then we can be part of her project and we will be able to say, "We had something hanging in a museum!" How cool is that! I'll let you know more about this project as it evolves...it's going to be great!
Terry made this quilt top for market (I think), look closely and you'll see how precise the piecing is - not one crooked stripe! This alphabet quilt is pretty unique, the embroidery was hand done and the very clever "creatures" that are drawn for each letter of the alphabet mimic the letter...Terry said a pattern will be coming soon, sure hope so!
Denise made four charming placemats and the rooster table square for her kitchen. She purchased the pink and tan bunny penny rug and then used it as a pattern and made the pink and brown bunny penny rug - the details don't show up but they are very sweet!
Terry made a beautiful circle quilt for one of her daughter's and these are two shams she made to go with the quilt - love the colors!
This is Barbara's zig-zag quilt - it almost looks like a watercolor quilt, the fabrics blend so beautifully. Barbara made this quilt at our retreat last fall - it's so pretty, would look great in my house!
You've seen this before...Helen made this bag with "cheater fabric." It's not's pieced, that is just one piece of fabric! THIS JUST IN... CORRECTION! Helen did NOT use cheater fabric! She emailed me to say she used a 5-inch charm pack and the entire bag is pieced...So Sorry Helen!!! Now you can feel free to ooh and aah even more! Helen is such a clever gal! She brought this tote in and said she didn't want it so before she could change her mind we had names put into a jar and we picked one and and Terry was the lucky girl!
This is Helen's masterpiece! Take a clook at how she did the border...she didn't want to introduce another fabric or take away from center so she matched up pieces of the same background fabric with each block...like I said, Helen is one clever gal! Is this happy or what?!?
You can see the borders better in this shot - this is definitely a Crayola quilt! And the quilting is so pretty, too, it was done by Barbara Jackson.
This is another of Helen's quilts - those circles are hand-appliqued and take a look at the border - that little strip of green is pieced! Helen had plans to hand-quilt this beauty but after it had aged properly, she opted to get it done and had Barbara Jackson quilt it for her...wise move!

Marsha made the quilt above for her newest grandbaby who is due to arrive any minute! This quilt is made with flying geese blocks - so it comes together pretty quickly.
Janet brought in the quilt that was made from upholstery samples. This quilt is being raffled off to raise money for her church's charity. Janet asked for our opinion on how to bind the quilt - we had a lot of them - I told her it should be a stripped binding...I was wrong! Someone at her church put on a very thick corduroy binding, it's almost like a cording, and it works perfectly with the quilt! This quilt is large and very heavy, due to the weight of the fabrics. Of course I bought some raffle tickets - I would love to curl up in this!
Ardith finished her grandson's quilt! This thing is huge but her grandson will definitely grow into it! Terry did the quilting, she made waves - so perfect for this quilt!
The quilt above was made for me by my friend Mari - she gave it to me years ago and it has been used and loved almost daily. I showed my future daughter-in-law this quilt and she loves it as much as me. I offered to make her one, so at her reception, instead of her guests signing a book, they will sign fabric squares. After the hoopla I'll sew them into a quilt for the boy and her. Thanks for the inspiration Mari! I also had a quilt of my own to share, but I'm going to show you that later this week.
