Janice's Quilt...

There's a story to this quilt and it's a strange one!  Years ago our quilt group made "ugly 9-patch" blocks and exchanged them...I made a quilt out of my set and love it to pieces.  Lori opted not to use her blocks and gave them to me and I decided instead of another 9-patch quilt that I would cut those blocks into smaller blocks and then resew them...then the ugly fabrics would be smaller and less noticeable, at least that was the goal. 

The blocks were re-sewn, the sashing and borders were added and the top was complete...but there was just one problem, I didn't like it.  Actually, I hated it...and so it went to the bottom of my "to finish" pile, where it stayed, marinating, for about a year. 

About a year and half after this top was made, our quilt group had a sew day for American Hero Quilts, and we asked people in our community to come and help.  One of those who came to help was Janice Ryther, someone who has a heart so big that it amazes me she can walk upright.  I took this top to the sew day, to raffle it off to whoever wanted it...and Kareena won the quilt...Janice was next to her and said she really liked it so Kareena said, "It's yours!"  Kareena is generous to a fault!  I was thrilled someone liked the top and wanted it....but...Janice is not a quilter/sewer...and I remember wondering how she would get the top finished...

Notice the yellow striped fabric?  It was not sewn in but left open as a "ruffle" - it's the one thing I really liked about this quilt...So Janice took the top home and I quickly put it out of my mind.  Fast forward three years - Janice offers to host a bridal shower for my soon-to-be-daughter-in-law...someone Janice doesn't even know!  (And it was the most amazing shower!!!  Not only did Janice not know my future d-i-l, but no one else at the shower did either!  The place was packed and my friends, the most amazing women on the planet, showered Jessica with beautiful gifts, and more importantly, with love and good wishes!!!  I wish you all could have seen it - truly wonderful and both Jessica and I were overwhelmed at their kindness and generosity.)    

My friends Megan and Linda offered to help with the shower, too, (they made amazing food!) and so before the shower I went shopping for some thank you gifts to give to these wonderful women.  I had no trouble finding gifts for Megan and Linda but I couldn't decide on anything for Janice, and then I remembered the quilt top.  At the time, Janice and her husband were out of town... I called their daughter and asked her if she could get the top for me - she was all over breaking and entering!  She brought me the top and assured me Janice would never miss it as it was in a pile of "things."  So I went to work...picked a flannel backing, got it quilted and bound and evey time I talked with Janice on the phone or in email I had to be very careful not to say, "I'm working on your quilt!" 

The minute I pulled this quilt from the dryer a funny thing happened...I fell in love with it!!!  Why does that always happen?!?!  It's so soft and warm and I love how it's sort of got a modern vibe to it - and here's the thing, it goes perfectly in Janice's home!  So after the shower, I wrapped it up and took it to Janice and before she opened it I asked her if she was missing anything...and to my surprise she said YES!  I can't find my quilt top!!  But, she wasn't stressed about it, she just thought it was odd it wasn't in it's usual place and thought she must have stuck it somewhere - so she guessed what was in the bag before she opened it.  And here's the kicker...Janice had planned to have the top finished, she even had backing for it!  (Which her daughter didn't know about! She had picked a gold on gold fabric for the backing, very different from what I chose.)  But I think Janice was happy with how it turned out - and I am thrilled I could do something for her that she liked! 

There you have it...the story of Janice's quilt, it's a good one, no?  Thanks for the lovely shower Janice and for being such a great friend!

Easter Caramel Apples...

The mister and I just returned from a road trip...I wish I could tell you something exciting or funny or fun about it but I've got nothin'...I was in the car with the mister for 14 hours going and 14 hours coming...and believe you me, there is nothing fun about that!  I spent most of the drive playing on my iPad...Candy Crush, Pinterest, Facebook and looking up factoids for the mister, like how long the Snake River is or where the nearest car wash in Nampa, Idaho was...yes, the mister drove through a car wash in the in the middle of a 14 hour road trip!  Godfrey!  How many times do you think a person can say, silently to themselves, OCD before they become OCD?!?  Just curious...because I said it about 14,000 times in 14 hours...it didn't help the situation but it kept me from killing myself.  But enough about that...let me tell you about Peter's Caramel.

 

 

 

 

My cousin Barbara (Hi Barb!) introduced me to Peter's Caramel and Gygi many years ago...Gygi is a fabulous kitchen store in Salt Lake City (300 West 3500 South) - think Sur La Table on steroids.  And while you can purchase Peter's Caramel at other places, I always get it from Gygi when I'm in SLC...and I order it from them online at well.  A 5 lb. brick is $16.99 - and it's worth every penny.  In the past I have melted the carmel in a double boiler or in the microwave but this time I took the advice of the check-out gal and put the brick in a glass baking dish in the oven at 200 degrees for 90 minutes...it was liquid gold...smooth and creamy and the perfect temperature for dipping!  A 5 lb. brick of caramel will coat 12 to 13 medium apples, with a nice thick coat of caramel!

Caramel Apples are usually just a Fall treat around here...but I decided to break with tradition and make them an Easter/Spring treat as well!  I invited the young girls from church to come dip apples with me - we had a great time...and regrettably I didn't get pictures of their apples - but they were really, really cute!  After they left I dipped some more...dipping is easy, decorating was a bit more challenging...so I just sort of winged it - and they turned out okay - not beautiful like I had hoped but at last they tasted great!  I used Fuji apples...I like them better with caramel than Granny Smith's which I think are too tart.  Peter's Caramel is better tasting than any homemade caramel I've ever had...and it always works!

 

 

 

Pink and yellow chocolate melts, pink "bunny" sprinkles, marshmallow ducks and Peeps - that's what we had to work with - oh and some multi-colored pastel sprinkles for the bottom of the apples.

   

Making Easter Caramel Apples is a great way to guarantee the Easter Bunny will come to your house...as you know, he only goes where the welcome mat has been placed...so I have made sure to put a few things out so he will spot our house as one that needs another treat!  And it's quite possible the Easter Bunny will leave with one of these caramel apples...as they make great gifts.

It looks like we're going to have a nice Easter...the sun might even make an appearance!  I've got a pretty fabulous menu planned...not sure if we're having guests or not but no matter, we will definitely enjoy our feast and hope you enjoy yours, too!  And let's all try to remember the reason we celebrate Easter...JELLY BEANS, COLORED EGGS, CARROT CAKE and the EASTER EGG HUNT!!!!  Happy hunting to you all - in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Shirt Quilt...

See if you can follow this...one of my friends talked with someone who knew someone who knew someone who had passed away from mad cow disease, leaving a wife and four kids.  One of the kids told someone that she wanted a quilt from her dad's shirts, and that someone told someone who told someone who told my friend who then told my quilt group about it - whew!  And so, armed with 15 men's dress shirts from the dad who passed away, our quilt group made 5 quilts - one for each child and one for the mom - we only had 3 shirts a piece to work with and this is what I came up with:

This quilt is for the mom, it measures 54 x 64 and was made from two plaid shirts and one solid cream-colored shirt, all of the shirts were 100% cotton.  It's the perfect lap-size quilt...if you ask me. 

It's very hard to see, but quilted into the border of the quilt is the phrase, "Families are Forever."  I personally believe that and I hope the mom does, too.  I looked everywhere for a blue-ticking fabric but couldn't find any and I didn't have time to order on-line so I used a polyester-cotton blend fabric for the inner border and the binding - it's very soft and silky feeling - and I like how it looks.

The quilt was backed with a white-on-white striped fabric - nothing exciting.  I used part of a shirt sleeve to make the label, which has to be unbuttoned to see:

(Please ignore the creepy hand...last week I caught my grandson Max staring at my hands and he poked the vein in the back of my hand and told me it was a blood artery and so I looked at the back of his little hand and asked him where his artery was and he said he didn't have one, "That's because I'm new."  Baddabing!)    

 

I'll be taking the quilt to my quilt group meeting this Friday and passing it off to the friend for her to give to someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows the family of the man that passed away.   I'm sorry for your loss Mrs. Larson, I hope this quilt brings you some measure of comfort.

Fork Picture Holders...

Thanks Pinterest!  Once again, after hours and hours of perusing Pinterest, I found something I could actually do...and so I did.  I made these little fork picture holders - I think they'll make great placecard holders on our Easter table, too!

Surely you're going to want to make some of these for yourself?!?  You'll need two things...pliers and a fork...I used silver-plated forks that I happened to have but any fork will work.

 

 

 

 

Using the pliers, turn the outer tines of the fork backwards, try to keep them even or else your pictures will sit wonky.  Then grab the ends of two inner tines, one at a time, and curl up and out.  It's easier than you would think - I was able to make about 10 holders in 20 minutes...some sort of land speed record I'm sure!

This is one of my very favorite pictures of the boy...he's holding his dog, Budgie, and they were waiting for their turn to slide down heartbreak hill - I think he was 9 or 10...and now he's getting married!  As you can see the tines are not exactly perfect - but for my first try I think they turned out great!

These three don't look so great - but they work just fine!  I think they'll be favors for our guests...if I can stand to part with them. 

Homesick Toast...

While waisting away the hours on Pinterest, I came across a picture of the most delicious looking toast...I clicked on the picture, got to the original post and discovered the secret to making one of the best tasting breakfasts I have had in a long time and it makes and one heckova appetizer...two in one, got to love that!

 

 

 

Avocado, goat cheese, mint and lime juice...mixed together, seasoned with salt and freshly ground black pepper and spread onto toast - I mean, piled onto toast - it's truly a game-changer!  You cannot eat this and not feel good - because it just tastes so good...the frest mint is a nice little surprise which will awaken your brain in seconds!  About the name, Homesick Toast...an Aussie living in New York makes this when she is homesick for her native country - where apparently it is a staple for breakfast.  So if you're homesick for whatever, make this and cure thyself.

 

 

Over the last two weeks I've made this almost every morning for breakfast...it's filling, bright, delicious and I can't see myself getting sick of it any time soon.  Because of the unique flavors, I decided to serve this as an appetizer...small pieces of toast piled high - they flew off the plate!  I don't know what else to tell you except this is worthy of five dangs on the ol' Meter because it's dang, dang, dang, dang, dang good!

Homesick Toast - Adapted From Simple Provisions (simpleprovisions.com.au)

2 slices of good bread, whole wheat or whole grain is best

1 ripe avocado (to tell if an avocado is ripe, remove the "button" on the end, if it is green underneath then you'll have a perfect avocado, if it is brown, then it's past-due and will be brown inside.)

juice of 1/2 of a lime

2 teaspoons chopped mint, plus extra for garnish if using as an appetizer

1/2 cup goat cheese

salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Toast your bread, no need to butter it unless you're a glutton.  While the bread is toasting, cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and scoop out the flesh into a bowl.  Mash the avocado with a fork and add the lime juice and mint, mix together.  Crumble the cheese and fold it into the avocado mixture, leaving some of the cheese in chunks.

Spread/pile the avocado mixture onto toast and season to taste with salt and pepper.

If you're making these for appetizers, cut toast into quarters or use a small baguette that is sliced and toasted.  Put a sprig of mint on top of each piece before serving.

Irish Cream Cake with Butter-Rum Frosting...

Before I get to this incredible recipe - one you will want to print, laminate and tape to the inside of your kitchen cabinet door, (right next to the slip of paper with the local Mortuary name and number, like my Grandma did, because you never know when you might need a hearse!) - I have to give a little shout-out to my new BFF's, Brianna and her Mom!!  I ran into them a few days ago and they totally made my day!  They told me they love reading my blog - which was SO nice to hear!!  Seriously!  I was thrilled to pieces!  I replayed our conversation all afternoon - I'm telling you, it was like a shot of adrenaline!!  And so I came home and made cake to celebrate my good fortune in having such wonderful readers!  This cake is not just any cake but quite possibly the best cake I have had in a very long time, like forever!   I took some to my foodie friend down the street who said it was the best cake she had ever had...high praise to be sure!  So whatever dessert you were planning on serving this St. Paddy's Day, forget it and make this cake!

 

 

 

So what makes this cake so dang good?  As in FIVE dangs on the Dang Meter?!  One cup of Bailey's Irish Cream...yes, one full cup...Now, for all you tee-totalers out there, I'm sure you'll read this recipe and declare it not for you...but before you do, hear me out...a Bundt cake can serve 16 people...so if we do the math...one cup of Bailey's divided by 16 servings equals 3 teaspoons per serving...and since Bailey's is only 17% alcohol by volume and Vanilla Extract is 35%, I think you can see this cake is perfectly safe to imbibe, I mean eat!  Plus, I asked a scientist (dentist) if the alcohol would bake out at 350 degrees and he said it would...and who am I to argue with a man of science?!

 

It looks like the Bundt was cut in half, but it wasn't, that's just some weird thing my pan does...there are many recipes on line for this kind of cake, most of them use instant vanilla pudding but I used chocolate pudding - I thought it was the more delicious choice.  Plus, almost all of the recipes I read called for a Bailey's and powder sugar glaze for the top of the cake...but I wanted a little something more so I made a rum-buttercream frosting.  This is such a wonderful cake...rich, moist with a dense crumb - as any Leprechaun would say, it's magicially delicious!

Irish Cream Cake with Butter-Rum Frosting - Pots and Pins - Adapted From Several Recipes

1 package (18 oz.) yellow cake mix, without pudding in the mix

4 oz. instant chocolate pudding mix

3/4 cup vegetable oil

2 tablespoons water

1 cup Bailey's Irish Cream

4 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.  In the bowl of an electric mixer combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil, water, Baileys and eggs.  Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then stop mixer and scrape down sides.  Beat for two minutes on medium speed.  (Beating for longer will only add air to the batter which will dry out the cake.)  Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.  Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a rack to cool completely.   Frosting recipe below. 

Butter-Rum Frosting:

2 sticks butter, room temperature

1 1/2  teaspoons rum extract

3 tablespoons heavy cream

5 to 6 cups powdered sugar

In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter until smooth.  Add in extracts and cream and slowly add in the powdered sugar, beating on low speed until incorporated and then on high speed for about 5 minutes until very, very smooth.  Add additional powdered sugar if frosting is not thick enough or add another teaspoon or so of cream if it is too thick.  Spread over cooled cake.  Serves 16.

Irish Brown Soda and Oats Bread...

About a year ago the mister and I noticed some mildew on the tile in front of the shower in the bathroom...he sprayed it with some kind of liquid napalm and it disappeared, only to reappear a day or two later.  After giving the matter some thought, I figured out the problem - water was seeping through the grout and under the tile.  But the mister disagreed with me, told me I was nuts and said the mildew was from water that was escaping from the shower when it was on, and I wasn't drying the floor properly and there was no way it could be coming from anything else.  During the last year I challenged him over and over on this and he argued himself into a snit every time and refused to remove a tile or two and have a look or to call someone to come and fix it.  Then last weekend the mister was in the garage, and he could smell Irish Spring soap, the soap we use in the shower, which is located over the garage...he looked up just as a water droplet was on it's way down, hitting him squarely on the forehead.  He was not amused.  There was a huge wet spot on the ceiling in the garage...I resisted the urge to say, told you so.  One year of water leaking...what could have been a minor issue has now turned into a major one, to the tune of thousands of dollars...of course insurance doesn't cover it...and guess what, NOW the mister is in a panic and wants me to get someone in here pronto to fix it!  Just last week the mister was all up in my face with..."There's no need for anyone to come fix anything!"..."There's no way the grout is leaking!"...."Just make sure you close the door when you shower!"... but one little water drop on the forehead and he's seen the light, I mean water damage.  Freak.  So the trip we were planning on taking this fall?  Not happening.  Once again, we're getting a plumber and tile guy instead.  Yippee.

 

 

 

 

This bread is said to be found in every pub and supermarket in Ireland...it's a staple.  Even though this is lesser known than plain Irish soda bread, it's more delicious...it's craggy, rustic, dense, chewy and very, very good.  And...there is no kneading, no rising, no yeast, so you can have it made and on the table in under and hour!

You don't even need to use a bread pan - just shape the dough and put it on a parchment lined tray - could not be easier.  This is sopping bread, because it is the perfect accompaniment to any soup or stew and it can sop up the delicious remains in the bowl - thereby freeing one from having to lick the bowl.  I've made this bread three times now and will shamefully admit I've eaten almost all of those three loaves!  But in my defense, there is just nothing better than a slice of this bread slathered in butter while watching Judge Judy!

Irish Brown Soda and Oats Bread - Adapted From Chef Patti Jackson From a Gastropub Called The Chophouse via Edible Manhattan, October 2012

1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons unbleached all-purpose flour

2 cups stone-ground whole wheat flour (make sure your flour is fresh - it makes a difference!)

2 cups rolled oats (larger flakes, if available)

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons dark brown sugar

1 tablespoon baking soda

2 tablespoons boiling water

1 3/4 cups buttermilk (must use real buttermilk, not "home-made" with vinegar/lemon juice or the powdered kind - it makes a huge difference, trust me!)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Mix flours, oats and salt in a large bowl.  In a small bowl, mix together honey, dark brown sugar, baking soda and boiling water; stir to melt.  Add honey mixture and buttermilk to the flours and oats and mix well to form a sticky dough (you may need to use your hands but do not over-mix).  Allow to rest for 10 minutes, then, using lightly floured hands, form into an 8 x 5-inch oblong loaf and put on a parchment-lined baking sheet.  Cut a long slash in the top.  Bake for 40 minutes.  Remove from oven and cover with a damp towel to prevent too heavy of a crust from forming.  (I personally like the crust to be crusty, so I skipped the towel bit.)  Makes 1 loaf.

Irish Colcannon Soup..

I thought I would kick off St. Patrick's Day Week with our new favorite Irish soup...but first, some background...the mister is 1/4 Irish and 1/4 Cherokee, which means he should have been born with a Check Liver Light.  (No offense intended for anyone except the mister.)  This is probably his favorite time of year...college basketball on TV and St. Paddy's Day celebrations at every turn.  He loves Irish food, mainly because it's harmless...no spicy-spices to upset his delicate constitution.  So when I served him this soup, he was happy, he liked it...you might even say he was happier than a Leprechaun at the end of the rainbow with all of his gold and a full pint in each hand, and he said, "Ah yes, a taste of the homeland."  Like either of us would know...we've never been to Ireland and I'm not sure if we could find it on a map - but we were told this soup is as Irish as they come!

 

 

 

 

For at least one week every year we eat Irish - and over the years we've had some great Irish dishes.  If you're looking for something to serve to your brood of Leprechauns, here's a few of my favorites:

Irish Beef and Barley Stew (This is hearty and filling and perfect on a cold March day!)

Irish Soda Bread  (Actually this should be called American-Irish Soda Bread because it's a bit sweeter and more delicious than any Irish soda bread would ever be!)

Blarney Stone Soup (This recipe is one a Slaughterhouse favorite - I've been making it for the fam for about 20 years and I never get any complaints, unless the stone in the soup takes up too much room!)

Corned Beef and Cabbage Rolls with Mustard Sauce (Corned beef and Cabbage is not an Irish tradition...it's an American-Irish tradition and one that we happily enjoy - especially this recipe, which is dang good and is always served at our St. Paddy's Day feast!)

Irish Orange Sponge Cake (You can't beat a good sponge cake on St. Paddy's Day - and this one is delicious right down to the last, moist crumb!)

You don't have to puree this soup, if you want to leave the chunks of potato and cabbage, go right ahead.  We've had it both ways and I prefer it pureed but it's up to you.  This soup is hearty and is thickened without any flour or cornstarch, so you really taste the flavors of the potatoes and the buttery cabbage. 

Irish Colcannon Soup - Adapted From Ballymaloe Cookery School Cookbook

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, divided

3 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed (1/2 x 1/2-inch cubes)

1/2 of a large white onion, thinly sliced

1 teaspoon salt

freshly ground pepper

5 cups vegetable stock

1 head of cabbage, outer leaves and stem removed and finely shredded

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped, plus more for serving

1/2 cup heavy cream

Melt 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) of butter in a large Dutch Oven or a large stock pot, then add the potatoes and onions and toss with butter.  Add 1 teaspoon salt and some freshly ground pepper.  Cover and let sweat over low to medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring once.  Add the vegetable stock to potatoes, turn up heat to a boil, then turn down to medium and let cook for 5 to 6 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender.  While the potatoes are cooking, take a pot and add the remaining butter and 3 to 4 tablespoons of water and a pinch of salt ot it.  Add the cabbage to this pot, toss to coat, cover and cook for several minutes until cabbage is soft.  Toss again, and add some freshly ground pepper and a bit of salt to the cabbage to taste. Add the cabbage and the parsley to the potatoes and puree everything with a hand blender (or do it in batches with a regular blender or food processor).  Taste for seasonings and if needed, add more salt and pepper.  Stir in cream.  Heat until heated through.  Garnish with a sprig of fresh parsley.  Serves 6.

***************************************************************************************************************************  I like things...unusual, quirky things...they make me happy when I see them and they always turn out to be "conversation pieces."  A friend was over a while back and she asked me about one of my more unusual items and when I told her it was a conversation piece, she exclaimed, "Your whole house is a conversation piece!"  (I chose not to be offended!)  So here's my latest acquisition/conversation piece...found languishing in an antique shop in Monroe, WA, now prominently featured in my kitchen...and, as you can see, it has my name on it...cute, no?

 

Now, to state the obvious, it has officially become a conversation piece, as we have just had a conversation about it (albeit one-sided).

My French Quilt...

Mister:  How about we drive to Utah for your Mother's birthday?  We could stay a few days and see the family and have a few laughs, whaddya think?

Me:  Really?  YOU want to drive to Utah to see my mother??!

Mister:  Sure, it will be fun!

And with that, my antennae were on full alert...the mister never wants to drive to Utah let alone spend time with my family...so what exactly was he up to?!?

Me:  Great, sounds good to me!

So the mister went about his work, whistling a little tune that sounded vaguely familiar...which I couldn't put my finger on until later that night when the mister turned on ESPN and I heard the March Madness "theme music" (duh!) and the announcer said, "The Salt Lake City Regionals will be the games to watch..."

I took a quick looksy at our bank statement and there it was, an entry for $$$$$ for tickets to the SLC NCAA Regional Basketball Tournament!  So the mister thought he was pulling a fast one on me...

Me:  So, when were you going to tell me?  On the drive to Utah?  Or on the first morning of the all-day games?

Mister:  What?!?  What are you talking about, I'm watching a game here, what's for dinner, do you have any of that excellent chicken stuff from last night, man, that was so good, I really, really liked it!

Me:  Nice try...do you want me to just go and pick out my next piece of jewelry or do you want to surprise me?

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, no?

This one was a long-time in the making...or at least it seems so.  About 15 years ago a friend told me of someone who was going to Paris and she was going to ask them to bring her some fabric...so I asked if they could bring me some, too...something "Frenchy."  The yellow border triangles and the small yellow border is from the fabric my friend got me.  And that fabric sat in my stash for 13 years.  

About 5 years ago our quilt group held a fund-raiser and a lot of people donated fabric to our group to sell at our event...someone donated drapes, which were faded in spots from the sun and not really what quilters would want to buy.  I brought the drapes home, and salvaged what I could - it's the red fabric in the outer borders and in the center...and those drapes sat in my stash for about 3 years.

The rest of the fabric, the squares in the center, were from a package/charm pack of "French Fabric" that I purchased about 4 years ago...I don't know why I only bought one package - that's not enough to do anything with so that package also sat in my stash...

Then three years ago, I was digging through my stash looking for something, I found all of these random fabrics and decided they would make a great quilt...see?  My brain works, and if I didn't have a 3 to 4 year delay, it would work perfectly!

 Voila!  After sitting unfinished in my "to finish" pile for about 3 years, it is done!!  I love this quilt...it reminds me of my three trips to France...the amazing food, the incredible sights, the fashionable people with scarfs flying about their necks!  I would so love to go back to France...if only I didn't have to get on an airplane to get there!  For now, this is my very favorite quilt...it's sewn together with memories and because I machine-quilted it with a big, random stipple, it's super soft.  13 years in the making...and this one is for me! 

Pregnancy Myths...

I thought this was funny and interesting...and since I know about a half dozen women who are pregnant, I thought I would share this with them and you..and what's fascinating to me is I was told almost all of these...and they all proved to be true...so maybe they aren't myths after all?!?!
