This post is really for me...so I can remember what I did last year and why things that were on my "to-do" list didn't get done, which is why they are still on my "to-do" list this year...
Quilting takes a good bit of my time, and I'm so glad it does! After years and years of quilt-making, I still love making them and especially love wrapping up in them! Pictured in this post are all of the quilts I either started in 2012 or finished in 2012. And while it wasn't a record-quilt-year, I managed to make/finish 17 quilts last year!! No wonder not much of anything else got done! So, give me a drum-roll and let's get on with the show!
The quilts pictured above are not the same - the one on the right was made for American Hero Quilts and I liked it so much I made one for myself!
This is my French-Spanish Linen quilt...made with fabric I purchased in Nice, France...it's pieced and waiting to be quilted...tick-tock...maybe this year it will be finished.
The Christmas quilt was put to good use this past week - it's been "broken in" nicely!! Two baby quilts finished last January - I'm sure the little girls they were made for are too big for them now!
The little satin baby quilt on the right was made for my new Grand-daughter Elsa, it was her Blessing Quilt...her name and date of birth are embroidered around the borders...wonder where this quilt is now? Haven't seen it for a while! The quilt on the left was a wedding gift - hope the newlyweds got some use out of it last week!
This is one of my favorites - pieced in 2012 and finally finished in 2013...it's just plain happy, no?
Out of all the quilts in all the world, this one is my favorite! It was started years ago (quilting friends made some of the blocks for me) and finally piece together but then it languished in my "aging" pile (a quilt has to sit for a year or two before it's ready to be finished, to age properly, right?) until it was finally ready to be HAND-QUILTED! Which is why it is so, so soft - plus it's backed with a red-checked flannel so it's more than soft, it's yummy soft!
The red and white quilt was finally pieced together and is currently somewhere in the "aging process"...but the blue quilt was finished and given to my sister for her birthday! The red whole-cloth-quilt was made for Bonnie, my neighbor, when she left for college and the circle baby quilt was a gift for sweet little Chloe.
This is my Seafair quilt...started and finished in 2012! It will be ready for action this coming August!
Two harvest quilts - both pieced at our quilt retreat in September and then I cheated just a bit, I had Barbara Jackson quilt them for me...but as we all know, if you sew down the binding it's your quilt! (That's what a "famous quilter" said about her quilts...someone else designed them, someone else pieced them and someone else quilted them...but by golly, she sewed on the binding so the quilt was hers!) So yes, these are both mine!
This is Leah's quilt...you might recall that Leah is 10 years old...I have quilts waiting to be finished that are older than her! Leah wanted me to help her make a quilt..she pieced this one all by herself and did a great job. Yours truly did the rest...a joint effort with great results.
That's it...that's what I did in 2012...17 quilts started or finished...and I probably have another 17 in the works...maybe 2013 will be the year I get them ALL done?!
Happy New Year!
