Dear lads and lasses...oh for you to be me this morning! I am fairly giddy with excitement! Although a few hours ago I wasn't too giddy when Caesar Beezer The Wonder Dog woke us up by vomiting on the carpet...two inches over and he would have hit tile...and I wasn't too giddy when, after cleaning up the dog's mess and going back to bed, I heard something break downstairs, followed by a few expletives and the banging of cabinets...and I definitely wasn't giddy when I had to haul my arse downstairs to have the mister accuse me of hiding the dust pan! "Yes dear, I've just been waiting for you to break something so we could play Hide the Dustpan!" No, definitely not giddy then...but...after the mess was cleaned up I noticed a box. When the mister went out to get the morning paper, his one and only weekend chore, he brought in the box that was left on the front porch by the mailman the day before. No return address but the stamp said ROYAL MAIL!!! ROYAL!!! I began to feel giddy-ness creep upon me...by the time I had the box open, I was in full giddy!
My dear friend in Scotland, Karon, sent me this delightful package...a tartan hot pad, a package of Scottish napkins, a sweet little book, The Magic of Scotland, filled with beautiful pictures...
The mister and I have talked and talked about going to Scotland...we're just waiting for a bag of money to fall from the sky and then we'll be on the first flight we can get! In the meantime, I shall enjoy these pics, and my hotpad and my Scottish napkins...oh...and this fabulous mug! Calling it a mug seems almost rude, let me rephrase...this fabulous china queen cup - there, that's better!
This is an antique cup - something Karon found on one of her treasure hunts I'm sure! I just love it!! When I saw this my giddy meter hit the mark - over the top with excitement!
So dang great! I'd have the mister pinch me but I hate bruises! So let's do some math, a little algebra, to illustrate my joy, shall we? I sleep with two dogs, one who vomits, one who breaks things, and now I shall sip from a royal cup...what does X represent? X-citement! X-cellence! X-traordinary glee! I'm really good at math.
Karon just celebrated the release of her third book, Simply Scottish Cakes and Bakes (which is available on Amazon and today on her blog, Karon is sharing one of the recipes from this fabulous book, Melting Moments, which look as good as they sound!) I've told you about Karon many times over the years, she is worth mentioning...she is so clever and funny and she's a master at reinvention...always coming up with something new - like Pumpkin Preserves...who's ever heard of pumpkin jam?!? Do yourself a favor and scurry on over to her blog and have yourself a look! Now, you'll have to excuse me, it's time for me to fill my antique china queen cup with something hot and frothy and put my feet up - it's the perfect day to stay inside, next to the fire with the telly tuned to the Hallmark Channel...thank you Karon - I love everything - especially you!
