Summer took it's toll on our group - people traveling, playing tourists, entertaining visitors from out of state...none of that left a lot of time to quilt! Even so, we had some pretty quilts at our meeting to inspire us...
Above is Stephanie's Christmas Gift quilt...scrappy pieced borders really set off the blocks - seeing this reminded me of my Christmas gift blocks which are aging nicely in a pile on my work table!
We've seen this before, when it was a flimsy, but now Stephanie's zig-zag quilt, made with half-square triangles, is all quilted and bound - and I love it! The fabrics blend so well ans Stephanie used Quilter's Dream for batting, so this quilt is especially soft.
This sweet little quilt was made by a 15 year old girl for her big sister's new baby...it's a panel, with borders added to it and then it was custom quilted...I wish the quilting was easier to see - it really made this quilt! And the back of this quilt is a leopard minky! So soft and fun - Baby Taj is going to love it!
Janet brought in two quilts her church group made for charity. This flimsy was pieced with upholstery weight fabrics - isn't it beautiful? When this flimsy is quilted and bound it will probably end up in some far-flung country and since it's so study it will probably be used on a roof! But what a beautiful roof it will make!
Above is the other top Janet's group made, and a close up of some of the fabrics that were used - it really is pretty. Both of Janet's flimsy's are a very generous lap size, kind of hard to tell in the pics. They will be loved wherever they end up!
The apples I brought home from Utah needed to be used, so I made another batch of apple butter and gave a jar to each of my quilting friends...hosting our meeting gave me another opportunity to use my apple tablecloth that I bought in France...and am still paying for, as in, the mister will never let me forget how much it cost!! Note to self: Leave him home next time!
Fall is just around the corner - rainy quilting days are ahead - my favorite time of year!
