It's been a whirlwind of fun having the Grands here...every corner of my pea-sized black heart is stuffed with joy! The Grands have left, temporarily, to go and visit their other grandparents...if the girl had married an orphan, like she was TOLD, then they'd still be here, but I am trying my best not to complain...as you can see, it's not working very well! I miss them terribly! I'm consoling myself with pictures of the last week...thought you might like to see them, too...
The blueberry patch (pick one, throw one, pick one, throw one), the park (push me higher gramma!), the pool (Max, get back here! That's the deep end!!! Don't run! Do not splash on me!), the farmer's market (fresh, hot malasadas kept them in the wagon!) and the Flight Museum...where Max was as happy as he could be! All those propellers, planes and helicopters! Max enjoyed every second - I think we discovered his happy place. Little Elsa loved going for rides in her little pink car - and when Max would run off we could always find him at the air conditioner, watching the fan. But the most fun, by far, was doing our nightly Sasquatch/Bigfoot hunts with flashlights...in the forest, aka the front yard. As you may, or may not know, Sasquatch and his people live in the forests...they are very afraid of humans, and do their best not to be seen...but every once in a while one can catch a glimpse of them. The Sasquatch are attrracted to shiny things (surely you knew this!?) so Max and I wrapped some trees in aluminum foil, and since Sasquatch are vegetarians, we put out lots of carrots, too...and then we set some "traps" with rope...
While it's a bit hard to see, it's there...a VERY LARGE FOOT PRINT that could have ONLY been made by a Sasquatch! Our lures were working! Max, the Sasquatch Hunter, is very proud of himself...he's hoping to catch one to take home with him on the plane...and if he does, believe me, I'll happily pay for Sasquatch's plane ticket!
(Since the Sasquatch are SO elusive and Max really wanted to see one, I tried to find a Sasquatch costume to rent...was going to have the neighborhood kids come and get in on the hunt and our neighbor even volunteered to wear the costume and make an appearance for the kids but apparently, in the Northwest, Sasquatch costumes are ALL THE RAGE this time of year!!! People rent them for family reunions of all things! So all available Bigfoot costumes are rented until after Labor Day! Who'd a thunk?!? If anyone has a Sasquatch costume I could borrow for Monday night, let me know!! By renting a costume I am not saying I do not believe the Sasquatch are not real....hahahaha...as if!)
It's so quiet here now...kind of nice, kind of sad! I'm looking forward to the Grands coming back for one more night before they fly home...then I'll be REALLY sad! Little Elsa loves her big brother...she tried so hard to have herself a little taste of him...and can she sport a doo-rag or what?!?! Being a grandma is the best thing in the world...and then some.
