School is almost out in our area for the younger kids...the high-school seniors have graduated...some by the skin of their teeth! But not my neighbor...she managed to graduate with flying colors...so I made her a little treat...
These were pretty quick to "glue" together...Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on the bottom, and a Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Truffle Square on top with a piece of Xtremes Sweetly Sour Belts as the tassels. I saw this on Bakerella (the Queen Creator of Cake Pops) and while hers are adorable and perfect and on a stick...I was short on time and fresh out of sticks!
Bakerella used mini Reese's cups (she said the proportion was better, I used the regular size...remember, when it comes to Reese's, bigger is better, as it is with most things) and instead of using melted chocolate as the "glue", I used...brace yourself...store-bought frosting! I know, gag, but like I said, I was short on time! Besides, it worked great and only a dab was needed on each one to glue the peanut butter cup to the chocolate square. Then a thin line was put on top to hold the Xtreme candy to the top...with a little extra dab of frosting just because. (The Xtreme candy belts are easily cut with a knife...if you try to pull them apart they will break - trust me!)
So they're not as pretty and perfect as Bakerella's - no one seemed to notice and I happen to know they were devoured in record time..."glue" and all! Congratulations to the Grads!

I have to thank my Scottish friend Karon, who wrote the nicest things about me on her blog, Live Home Lunch ...as she put it, she wanted to "big me up!" Karon is an expert with herbs...she has wonderful videos on You Tube that you really should watch! Each video is about 5 minutes long and you'll learn useful and fun tips...for instance...did you know that mint can get rid of mice? And sage is good for a sore throat? Karon will tell you how putting some basil on your window sill will keep the flies out and she'll explain how we can all grow our own Chocolate Mint and adding a few pieces of it to the morning cup o'Joe is better than anything you can get at Starbucks! Seriously...she's amazing! Oh, and she's also written TWO books on herbs - both are fabulous and you can get yourself a copy by clicking here.
Thanks Karon for all the blog-love! One day we'll sit together and watch the rain over a nice cup of herbal tea in Scotland...or Seattle!
