I'm going to celebrate today...a project that I started TWO years ago is finally finished! My cherry placemats turned out great...but what a lot of work! Making one placemat is the equivilent of making one mini-quilt...I had plans to make a dozen cherry placemats but six mini-quilts/placemats later and I am done. So done!
The cherries, stems and leaves were appliqued by hand and then the placemats were machine quilted. I purchased enough red check fabric to do the bindings on twelve placemats but after binding four of the placemats I couldn't find the fabric! So frustrating! So I used a different red check...and of course, after I was finished binding the remaining two placemats, I found the other fabric! Oh well...just another stitchophrenic moment in my life!
They are very cheery - just what I need on a day like today when it's gray and gloomy outside with the ever-present Seattle drizzle...it's impossible to have a good hair day in Seattle, just so you know.
Today I'm staying inside, where it's nice and cozy and I can celebrate finishing another project with some Lemon Cream over a coconut crust...do I know how to party or what!
