I think everyone in my quilt group looks forward to our December meeting - I know I do. It's always fun to exchange gifts with friends, but the gifts that were exchanged this year were truly special! Here, see for yourself:
This bag may look familiar...Helen made it last year and Marsha was the lucky recipient...and this year, Marsha decided to regift which worked out well for me as this is the gift I came home with...I won't be regifting this so don't anyone get their hopes up! (I'm so glad Marsha was too busy with moving and getting a daughter married or else she might have made something and then I wouldn't have gotten this bag!! Timing is everything!) The adorable tree pillow was made by Barbara and went home with Stephanie.
Claudia made this darling stitchery - said she was finishing it up as she drove to the meeting!! Terry took this little beauty home, thrilled to have another bunny in residence.
Helen made this book cover - just look at all of those pieces! She also made this fabulous table runner, and Barbara was the lucky one who got to take them both home!
Stephanie made this pointsettia stitchery...it's so like Stephanie, very artsy and cute, and Claudia now gets to call it her own. Terry worked her magic on this sweet wool piece, her stitching is enviable and Helen, against tremendous odds, managed to keep this one from being stolen and took it home!
Lori, who was not able to join us, sent this beautiful pillow which is Fa-La-La-Fabulous and Marsha took it home. Denise, our resident paper-piecer, perfectly pieced this wall-hanging that will now delight all who see it in Lori's home!
I took this wreath quilt as my gift to exchange - please notice that this is the one that was sewn correctly! (After 15 years I finally got it right!) Denise had to steal this from Barbara so I'm happy it went to someone who didn't mind stealing to get it! Now I know it will be treasured!
I passed out my Pin-cess Pins (read previous post) to the group...and believe it or not someone asked, "What do we do with these?!" And she's a quilter! Of course she was kidding...but I did wish I could have imparted some magical power to them!
Helen brought in this jar with a salt-dough lid that she discovered in her Christmas things - she made it years ago with her kids - like 30 or 40 years ago - isn't it great?! Oh to have another week of time on my hands - I would seriously make me some! And Denise brought in this charming paper-pieced mini-quilt...I think she said it's a gift but I don't think I could give it away!
We collected a few more blocks for Lori - it was her turn to receive blocks in November and she is making some sort of "July 4th" quilt - can't wait to see the finished project!
Speaking of November, we had a sew day at a local quilt shop and yours truly forgot to take pictures. We didn't get much sewing in but we did manage to buy fabric!
I'll leave you with a picture of Pumpkin butter set out on Stephanie's beautiful thrifted table cloth...I took everyone a jar - although it may be more like pumpkin syrup than butter - but it's dang good nonetheless! If you want something yummy for your Christmas morning muffins, you can find the recipe here.
