We've entered a new realm/dimension/phase/stage of life/dementia...we are now, the mister and me, Front Porch Sitters, or as my brother likes to say, Porch Monkeys.
For our anniversary, we bought ourselves these uber-cool rocking chairs (uber-cool is the term one uses when one is trying to sound hip). They are more comfortable than they look and I have so enjoyed sitting out on my porch in the morning sun...for those two mornings we've had sun.
Really, they're inviting, no? I'm so tempted to say, "Ya'll c'mon over and sit a spell!" Front porch rockers remind me of my mom, who has rockers on her front porch, where she likes to sit a spell. These rockers are from the Dixie Seating Company and I ordered them from here. They came in a box and had to be assembled with a bit of glue and screws. I put one together in about a half hour, then left the other one for the mister to do...TWO HOURS later he was done with his. TWO HOURS! He has yet to join me on the porch but continues to poke his head out when I'm out there with bon mots like, "What's next, a banjo?" and "Would you like some peanuts to shell?" Then he laughs himself into a coughing fit while I just slowly rock myself to my happy place.
If you're in the neighborhood, come and sit a spell!
