There's something about circle quilts - still not sure what it is, but I've got two of my own waiting to be finished! This is Kember's circle quilt. Kember is a brand-new quilter, this is her first quilt and she made it to go across the end of her bed in her college dorm room...so cute! She did a great job piecing it together...and then she brought it to me to stipple for her.
Kember didn't know she was supposed to use safely pins!! She pinned her entire quilt with STRAIGHT PINS!! And I, stupidly, left them in, thinking it wouldn't be a problem...now my arms look like I've got Cat Scratch Fever! There's a reason quilters use safety pins...so they can LIVE to quilt another day!
Like I said, Kember is new to quilting, so it's not her fault that she used straight pins...I just told her to bring me her quilt "pinned together"... I assumed she would use safety pins...I assumed she knew what I was talking about...note to self: Never assume!
I did manage to stipple her entire quilt without getting blood on it...that should get me some kind of award!
Kember still has the binding to sew down but it's off my table and on it's way to her! If you haven't made a circle quilt, you really should - they are SO fast and easy and so cute! If I can just stop doing OTHER people's quilts (3 of them!!)/meals/babysitting/flowers/bridal bouquets I just might find the time to post them!! It's been a very, very long week of service...the mister has imposed a moratorium on me saying YES to anything or anyone for the rest of the year...so far I've made it one day...that's a start!
Kember: Your quilt is on it's way to you...but it won't be completely finished until it's washed and dried...or, as I like to say, "birthed." Then it will be soft and crinkly and wonderful...which is how quilts are supposed to be...wrap it around you while you do your homework - it's sure to help!
