The mister is threatening to take action...while watching TV, when the show goes to commercial, he'll change the channel hoping to catch part of another show - instead he'll get another commercial! He's livid about this! Last night he said, "First thing in the morning I'm going to write to the networks and tell them they need to stagger their commercials! This is ridiculous!" Imagine those conspiratorial minds at all the networks getting together to synchonize their commercials! Imagine them getting a letter from the mister telling them to rearrange their commercial breaks so he can watch parts of three different shows! Imagine how fast I ran into the bathroom so I could laugh without him seeing! Stagger their commercials!!! The man was as serious as a heart attack...oh my, I laughed until my liver hurt!
On the docket for today - Lavender Sachets - they make the perfect Valentine gift for friends! And they're super easy to make...here, let me show you!
You can use any kind of fabric, but I used white stain. I cut two squares 6 1/2-inches, then stitched them together, leaving an opening to turn right side out. This becomes the "envelope" for the sachet. You can stitch the opening closed or seal it with a dab of glue - it won't show.
Next I took two squares of organza, cut 4-inches square. I stitched around the outside, leaving an opening, this is where the lavender goes.
Fill the little organza bag with lavender, then stitch the opening closed. I pinked around the organza bags to keep the edges from fraying. The smell is heavenly, by the way!
Set an organza sachet on top of a satin square and fold the corners up to meet each other in the center. You can either whip-stitch them closed or put a dab of hot-glue on them. You're making an "envelope" for the sachet to sit in.
(I order my lavender from Purple Haze Lavender Farms which is located in Sequim, WA. They're pretty quick about mailing and when you get a package from them you'll smell it before you even see it!)
Once the "envelope" is stitched or glued together, glue on a felt or wool heart. Or tie it on with a quick stitch and leave a bow showing, like I did.
Truly, aren't they cute?!? And they do smell divine...I like to keep sachets in my unmentionables drawer and I also keep them under my pillow on my bed...that way I can drift off to sleep every night pretending I'm in the lavender fields of Provence!
They will make lovely gifts...and a few special ones will eve be Sealed With A Kiss!
Plus sachets also make a nice little bridal shower gift, with a pretty make-up case and a test-booklet on how well the bride knows her groom...
My workroom smells so good right now - wish you could hit the smell-o-blog button!
