Here's an EASY last minute treat for you to whip up - Helen, creator of everything wonderful, brought these to our quilt meeting last week and everyone (especially me) loved them! They are incredibly addictive and delicious! Sweet and salty - chewy and gooey...the perfect Christmas (or anytime!) candy!
You will need three ingredients:
Rolo Candies (there are 8 candies to a package - I bought 9 packages and made 72 "turtles" which was ALMOST enough!)
Pretzels
Whole Pecans
Place pretzels on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Set a Rolo candy on top of each pretzel, in the center. Bake in 250 degree oven for THREE MINUTES...the Rolo candy will not melt, so don't assume it will like I did and leave it in longer because the chocolate will burn and you'll have yourself a mess!! After THREE MINUTES take them out of the oven and immediately press a whole pecan on top of the Rolo - it will smoosh down in the pretzel just like you want it to!
After placing the pecan on top WALK AWAY! Don't try to move them as the chocolate will be too soft - they will take a while for the chocolate to set up, maybe an hour but you could speed up the process by putting them in the refrigerator. Make more than you think you'll want because I promise you'll want more...and really, they're not a bad choice for a treat...nuts are good, pretzels have no sugar and no fat, and what's one little Rolo going to do?!?
The girl was having trouble with her camera but I think you can see Max had the best time ever on the carousel in Seattle...you couldn't WIPE the smile from his face! And the Asian man behind us had a good time, too!
Max giggled for the entire ride...now that, my friends, was Christmas for me!
Merry Christmas to you and yours and to my Mom and Dad - I love you! See you soon!
