Monday night we had our 5th annual Christmas party for the kids - and it was hysterical! (When I say we I mean my friends, who brought Frosty the Snowman AND our party to life! I am always the narrator - I just sit and look pretty and read the story...my friends however have to don silly costumes and follow my direction...and oh how I love those suckers them! I really do because without them there would be no play, no fun, no Christmas hi-jinks and the kids would be so, so sad! To see their little faces lite up is always one of the highlights of Christmas for me!
Above, Frosty relaxes before his big debut...
Our story begins with "kids" building a snowman and when they find just the right hat, they put it on Frosty's head and ZING! Something magical happens and Frosty SPRINGS to LIFE! Oh my, if ONLY I'd been able to get a shot of the children's faces when that happened! Of course, you know the rest of the story...after the kids and Frosty play and play, the SUN comes out and melts Frosty away! Our production ended with a rousing round of applause and then, since Santa was too busy to come, his #1 Elf showed up...albeit a bit frightful but the Elf seemed to enjoy himself immensely and his costume even more!
Seriously, I had no idea how much he would LOVE his yellow tights and curly wig! He stayed in his costume for the ENTIRE party even after everyone else had changed out of theirs!! Frosty made one more appearance that night...a special one just for me...
Of course we had treats...I was going to keep it simple - just serve cookies and milk but I couldn't help myself and one thing led to another and before I knew it I had TWO tables full of goodies!!
Coconut Cake with Lemon Curd Filling, Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, Chocolate Snowball, Lemon Meringue Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Fairy Cakes, Brownies with Peppermint Taffy, Brownies with Cherries, Gingerbread Men, Snowman Shaped Sugar Cookies, Frozen Strawberry Shots, Fudge, Caramels, Hand-Dipped Chocolates, Eggnog, Cider and Candy, Candy and MORE Candy!
If I was a kid I would want to come to my party...My goal each year is to make the kids' eyes pop out of their heads when they see the tables laden with goodies galore! This year I think I succeeded because I overheard one little girl say, "Wow...it's just like the North Pole!" Now, what more could I ask for?!?
