I wasn't able to attend the last quilt group meeting but I was able to get pics of all the quilts - and they are great! Here, see for yourself:
This beautiful quilt has been dubbed "the beast" because of it's size. Dawn brought it last month, when she had the top finished, now it is quilted and it's wonderful! It fits a king-size bed...hence the nick-name!
The Irish Chain is another top Dawn just finished - I'm not sure how big it is because it didn't come with a nick-name but Dawn is not known for her small quilts! Denise, however, is known for small quilts - and here's another of her small masterpieces! It's paper-pieced, flying geese - the spool of thread was put on to show you the size - simply amazing!
Helen's baskets...even if I wasn't told this was Helen's quilt I would have known - this is definitely "her." Love that cherry border!
This quilt top was made by Janet - it's called a French Braid. I love it! Years ago I tried to make a quilt like this without knowing the "trick" and I ended up sewing all the seams, then unpicking 1/4 of an inch and inserting the strips - then resewing - it was a nightmare! I'm sure Janet did it the right way. This quilt just reminds me of Spring - so pretty.
Lori was like a machine last month - she sewed her brains out! The quilt top, above left, is a rose colored baby quilt - very sweet. The quilt top on the right is her chicken quilt. She started it years ago and then put it in a box and stuffed it out of sight and forgot about it - isn't it adorable?!? I'm sure everyone at the meeting loved it as much as I do.
Two more from Lori - her Christmas circle quilt with a darling printed border and another Christmas quilt, with fun, colorful fabrics.
This is Lori's Hexagon quilt top - don't you just love those yummy colors?
One last quilt from Lori (I told you she was a machine!) her blue and red flannel quilt - someone is going to enjoy being wrapped up in this! The quilt on the right above is Marsha's circle quilt for hew new grandson - who is due to arrive any day now! Congrat's Marsha!
This quilt above is a work in progress - it's Marsha's grandmother's flower garden. It looks like she was laying out her blocks to see how they will all fit together. It's wonderful and such a time-consuming quilt to make - way to go Marsha!
This quilt was originally a top that Helen made, the center with the zig-zag's and then it had a wide green border on it, at least that's what I recall. She didn't like it so she gave it to Stephanie as part of our Christmas exchange. Stephanie took off almost all of the green border, and then finished the quilt with this great pieced border. She saved the left over green fabric to bind the quilt with. I think the two of them make a great team - nice work girls!
This last quilt is Terry's Easter Quilt. I wish the embroidery showed better - it's really beautiful. Terry is a perfectionist at everything she does so trust me when I say, up close, this quilt is perfect.
Nice job Terry - I hope the Easter Bunny brought you extra chocolate for all of your work!
That's it - another wonderful quilt show - hopefully next month I'll have something to show! Along with our monthly show and tell, our group is also continuing to make blocks for American Hero Quilts. Each month, one member takes the blocks and sews them into a quilt top to donate. It's a painless way to contribute to such a worthy cause.
