One good deed just spurs on another...and another! We had so much fabric left from our sew day that two more quilt tops for American Hero Quilts were finished...
The quilt on the left above was made by Helen, the over-achiever, who has finally learned to do "the math"...she figured out how to make those star blocks 9 1/2-inches all on her own...I'm so proud of her! That means that I am now the only "mathless" member of our quilt group. Sad for me. But I only know what I know. The quilt on the right above is one Helen, Stephanie and I quickly sewed together...and there is one teensy, little mistake in it...see if you can spot it...we thought about taking it out and fixing it but we all found it amusing and decided to go with the "Amish" approach...a little mistake is good luck...or something like that...and who do you think made the mistake? Oh I'm sure there's no doubt - it HAD to be me! Oh, maybe I will take it out and fix it before I send it on...okay, I will!
The quilt top above was made by Ardith, shown on the right, for a female soldier/Marine...because of the toille she used it's a bit more feminine...but who knows, with "don't ask, don't tell" it could go to a guy, too! Hoooo-Rah!
One last top - this one, at left, was made by Barbara...I should have taken a picture of the back of this quilt because it's as pretty and perfect as the front! Barbara is our resident expert piecer...maybe in my next life I shall be her...
All of these quilt tops have been sent to American Hero Quilts. They will be quilted and bound and a label that says "You Are Our Hero, Thank You" will be sewn on. The quilts will then be delivered, 100 at a time, EVERY SINGLE MONTH, to Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, WA, and distributed to our returning wounded soldiers and Marines.
I've written a lot about American Hero Quilts over the last year - they are a great organization and if you can't help them out by sending your own red, white and blue quilt to them, maybe you could help them by sending them a few bucks. Like all 501 (c)(3) charities, they're always in need of money.
