I've been wanting to make this pillow for a year - ever since I saw one just like it at a shop. I would have bought the pillow but they wanted $150 for it....a PILLOW! Made of wool! Sheesh! So, after the required waiting period (nothing ever happens quickly around here!) I finally got it finished - and I love it!
Obviously, when I went to stuff the pillow I shouldn't have cut open the goose feathers' protective covering...I KNEW better...but couldn't help myself! What do they call a person who does stupid things over and over expecting a different result? Oh yeah, an IDIOT! Well, I did my penance...it took me an HOUR to clean up all the feathers - and practically an entire roll of packing tape - the only thing that corralled the feathers! And then...after the pillow was finally stuffed to perfection, with feathers up my nose, in my hair and my mouth, I discovered that feathers do not just brush off of wool!!! So after what seemed like an eternity, I finally got the back of the pillow's black wool ALMOST feather free! There's a reason NORMAL people use fiberfill to stuff pillows...
The pillow is bound with black velvet cording...it's a bright spot in our newly "funky" family room. I would have called it a traditional family room a year ago, but with the addition of a few "interesting" pieces, tradition has flown out the door and has been replaced with funk...pictures to follow soon!
