It truly was a week in the kitchen - before and after Thanksgiving I was busy baking wedding-cake-shaped cookies for a reception. The son of the Blond Bombshell got married and I dare say BB practically upstaged the bride! Had she been wearing a long white dress I'm certain she would have - she looked marvahlas! I had help decorating the cookies...two little Aussie Lasses AWOL from college came to my rescue...
Fortunately, most of the frosting did end up on the cookies! We managed to break a good amount of the cookies - which meant there were plenty for us to eat - always a bonus! And even though some of the cookies didn't end up looking perfect - they absolutely tasted great...you can find the recipe for the best tasting sugar cookies EVER by clicking here.
Thanks to Abby and Tori for all of their help - they even came and lent a hand at the wedding luncheon where the bride wore this little apron, to keep her dress clean, made by yours truly. Just practicing for MY next wedding.
Taken before things got rolling - this is a picture of the reception hall - the entire cultural hall/gym was tented - which made for a lovely reception. I'm sure the Fire Marshall would have had a few things to say about the tent and all the doors being draped over...but whatever - it was a very fun evening and a good time was had by all. And at the end of a very long day - this is what I came home to...the mister underneath the sink PRETENDING to fix the leak that probably sprung 3 or 4 days ago - given the amount of mildew that had developed! Naturally our handyman was out of town - so we waited...changing the bucket about every two hours...kids, listen up, IF you marry a plumber you'll never have a pond complete with algae underneath your kitchen sink and you'll have more money than you can count. My next husband is going to be a plumber.
