Oy vay - what a week I've had!!! I have finally returned to the living...the crystal in my ear (you have them too you know!) has moved on from where it was wreaking havoc and I can now walk without running into furniture/walls and can also bend over without falling over - SUCH a RELIEF! Now I'm a week behind and doing my best to catch up! First let me start by showing you something that is sure to make you bust a grin...my Max...who will be coming to visit this next week! I can hardly stand the wait! I have big plans for Baby Max and me...got to make the most of every minute he's here!
Alfred Hitchcock made a movie called Vertigo ...it was called a "thriller" but let me assure you, there is NOTHING THRILLING about Vertigo - think HORROR...and I mention that again for two reasons, first, any unexpressed sympathy you have for me can still be sent my way...second, I had little time this week to actually DO ANYTHING...so I want NO SNICKERING when I show you what I did do!
Max loves crocheted/knitted blankies...he has several of them - he likes to poke his fingers through the holes while he sucks his thumb. The Girl does not like to carry a big heavy crocheted blanket, especially in summer, when they run errands or visit friends, so Max is forced to go without his blanket - heartbreaking isn't it?!? So I have come to Max's rescue yet again (my job as his grandma)...I crocheted two mini blankets for Max...yes, they look like wash cloths or two orphan squares from an afghan...but Baby Max is going to LOVE them! Now what you should be asking yourself is this: How was I able to make these mini's in between puking my guts out and spinning like a top? Valium. My new best friend. Oh...and talent, too...certainly talent! I mean, just look at those beauties!!!
Meet Owen. He's an Elf. He's sporting pom-pom suspenders, fur trimmed hat and mittens, a pleather belt, real jingle bells and hiding behind his generous rump are pretty packages tied up with bows.
I love Owen. Owen loves me.
He may be made of paper-mache but he's the man of my dreams..soft-spoken, stays put and has presents.
Like all men, Owen took some work to get him whipped into shape...I love paper-mache but it IS time consuming...Owen may get a twin brother...a fantasy fulfilled?
Owen was finished before I was stricken with vertigo...did I mention how debilitating that was?!? I'm lucky to be alive!! No kidding...one more header into the tile and I would have been a goner for sure!
Thanks to Stephanie, who at the mention of any type of art/craft says YES...and to Dawn and Janet who came along for the ride. It was great fun!
The mister, upon meeting Owen for the first time said, "What does it do?" I pointed out the positives...the bearing of gifts, the happy disposition, the festive attire...and the mister, after rolling his one good eye said, "Could you sell it and how many can you crank out in a day? Week? Month?"
He's always trying to make me his cash cow. Moo-moo. I informed the mister that Owen was made just for fun and that I LOVED him...Owen that is...and the mister, shaking his head as he exited the Nerve Center (my office) asked where I kept the valium...as if I'd share!
104 days until Christmas.
Time to get serious.
In case you're curious...Tickabox is what one does when one checks something off a list...ticks a box as it were...a new saying from the Aussie...I like it as one word...tickabox...so that's what I'm calling this post...I've ticked another few items off my list.
One last thing...Happy Birthday to my dear friend Joni...she's my OLDEST friend - I love saying that...your gift is on it's way...Vertigo be damned!
