Yep, that's his real name...Manly Buddy Holder...an 8 month old Perth native...grandson of one of the Aussie's, and I must say, he is an adorable little dumpling!
Hopefully one day little Manly and Baby Max can have a playdate at Grandma's house...
Little Manly could teach Baby Max how to say "G'day Mate" and Baby Max could tell Little Manly all about Fraser (see previous post) or Twilight...(with the release of the Twilight DVD this Saturday, I'm sure Baby Max will soon be able to speak Volturi as his mom will be watching that 24/7!)
The Aussie is going to return to Perth to visit her grandson, Little Manly, for the very first time...I know it's been hard on her not to have been there sooner! I wanted to make Little Manly a quilt - so he will know that there are people in the good ol' USofA who love him...strangers yes, but we love him all the same!
This is my favorite baby quilt pattern to make - it's called Big Baby Star by Linda Johnson and it can literally be made in one day! Yes, ONE DAY! It takes about an hour to cut out the pattern pieces, and another hour to sew the top together. If you piece the back, like I did, add another hour...if not, you're ready to sandwich it all together in under 2 hours! I used Quilt Basting Spray instead of pinning and so this quilt was ready to be machine-quilted *F*A*S*T*! And, because it's not huge, it only took an hour to quilt! Now, the binding takes longer than making the top - about 2 hours...so, let me add it up for you...in a little over 6 hours I TOTALLY FINISHED a baby quilt! I promptly threw it into the washer and dryer to get it all nice and crinkly soft and now it's ready for Little Manly to roll around on! Oh, I forgot to mention it's a surprise for the Aussie so mum's the word! Don't worry, she doesn't read my blog...I'm safe!
(The fabrics are all from the Clothworks line by Johnny Karwan, they're called Buie Palace and they are gorgeous!)
