Since my children are grown, I have no one to make gingerbread houses with...so I imported a few...meet Emma and Grace...best friends who, hours earlier had to be separated because of a disagreement, but as you can see, they put their differences aside in the spirit of Christmas!
The came to make gingerbread houses but ended up with gingerbread trains...and didn't they do a nice job?!? I think they probably ate as much candy as they glued on but they had fun and I had a fun watching...Christmas is, afterall, about children...and when I pointed out this fact to the mister the other day he said, "WHAT ABOUT THIS CHILD" and he pounded his chest!!! Apparently he wanted to make a gingerbread train too! Either that or he was trying to reprise the role of Tarzan...either way, I chose to ignore his little tantrum but I did report him to the elves!
On another note, I need to wish my Parents, and my brother and SIL, a happy wedding anniversary! My darling parents have been married for 55 years - and they said it would never last! I recently read the book The Last Lecture, where Randy Pausch said he felt like he won the parent lottery. Well, he might have but in my case, I truly did.
I posted this picture last year, but it's well-worth a second look. My parents, Lynn and Carol, on their wedding day, December 18, 1953.
During the last 55 years together they've lived in 12 different houses in two different states. They raised 5 children, 4 of whom are still living. They made countless runs to the ER and the principles' office and spent what could have been a cushy retirement on Band-aids, piano lessons, orthodontics, dance lessons, guitar lessons, college, cars, etc., etc., there was NO END to their generosity.
They have 15 grandchildren and one absolutely perfect great-grandchild...that would be Baby Max.
They are loved beyond measure and I wish them a very Happy Anniversary!
