Stephanie, a cupcake fiend, sent me a link for an individual cupcake holder...a crystal dish on a pedestal complete with a covered glass dome for $60...that's right, sixty big ones for one little cupcake. Seemed almost reasonable. But then I came to my senses and realized that I could make one for much less than that and quickly filed that thought away.
When Lori said she wanted a cute way to deliver cupcakes to some little girls she teaches, for once my memory served me well and I remembered the individual cupcake holder. And just like that we were off to Value Village to gather supplies.
We bought crystal and brass candlesticks for the bases and little crystal plates for the tops. Lori also found some darling little plates that had brass rims around them. With brush-on super glue it was easy to attached the two pieces, although I did use hot glue on one piece because the edges of the candlestick were not flat and it worked great - just won't be able to put it in the dishwasher.
These make an adorable way to present a cupcake to someone special...or a fantastic way to serve cupcakes - all of them on different sized pedestals! Look for little plates that are about the same size as a teacup saucer or a bit smaller - they will be the perfect size for a cupcake. To deliver your cupcake to your special someone, wrap up
the entire thing in cellophan
e and tie w
ith a bow - SO CUTE!
