My very favorite drink in the summer is velvet mint water...it's so refreshing after a long day of lollying about in the sun...
I start at my mint patch - if you don't grow mint it's probably because you don't want it taking over your garden - which it will do - but it's SO easy to grow - in fact it's much harder to kill than to grow...I pick about 5 stems of mint - I have three different varieties - then I wash them, stuff them into a pitcher of water and put the pitcher outside where it will get full sun. The sun heats the water, and the mint releases it's flavor...pour this over a glass of ice, add a few packets of sweetener and you'll have velvet mint water! Truly, it is so good! You can add sugar instead of sweetener - or drink it naked, but give my version a try first - it'll have you humming in your head in no time - one of my favorite past-times!

I rented the HBO's series, John Adams, and the mister and I have been watching it every night - it's really pretty good...if you haven't seen it then I highly recommend it....it will drive home the point that behind every successful man is a woman, with more brains and talent that he could ever hope to have...without Abigail Adams there would not have been a John Adams...

I also recommend Waitress but not necessarily because of the story line - a married, pregnant waitress has an affair with her doctor, who is also married...nope, that wasn't the appeal for me...what I LOVED about this movie was the waitress, played by Keri Russell, makes pies - glorious pies - and she makes up names for them as she goes...like "Why Doesn't My Husband Just Go Away And Die" pie....not necessarily a recipe I would want...today anyway...but the pies in the movie looked amazing...and I'm sure you've all seen this because it came out over a year ago - if not, take my advice and rent it - just not when you're hungry.
