I just put the final coat on the vanity today - so the bathroom is now 95% finished - I just need to find a nice little antique chandelier to hang over the tub - something with a dimmer switch because a barely lit bathroom is so much more flattering when you're my age - unless I'm putting on my makeup and then I need the 150 watt spot light and the magnification mirror - then it's back to the dimmer! And I need a picture for the wall - haven't found one that "speaks to me" yet... Here's the before...
We added new countertops, a completely new shower, tub, & toilet but kept the tile floor - my dad tiled the floor for us 8 years ago and it's still good as new - and now, here's the vanity with half of it's new look...
A nice new coat of green paint - followed by black paint that I rubbed on - I'm sure some people will look at this and think it's exactly the kind of vanity they would rip out - but, aside from it's various flaws - I really like how it turned out!
The knobs and drawer pulls are from Anthropologie; the tile is from Dal Tile - this is the tile the mister picked out that I hated - but now I can honestly say I love it - besides, he never reads my blog so he'll never know - he thinks I still hate it and that gives me plenty of ammunition which is one of the secrets to a long and somewhat happy marriage. I can't remember where the granite came from but the sinks and the rest of the fixtures came from Home Depot - got to love that place! Oh, the little box on the counter top is actually an antique wooden candy box that belonged to my grandma - I keep our movie ticket stubs in there - there are 18 years worth of ticket stubs in that box - and we go to the movies every week - so that's like a zillion stubs - I have to push the lid down!
I found the train-style towel holder on line and just love it. For you Seattleites who might be thinking of doing some remodeling, I can highly recommend our "guy"...Jeff Ackerman at JPA Construction - they started on time, stayed within budget and most importantly, finished on time and they even cleaned up after themselves, better than I would have, every single day! You can reach Jeff Ackerman at [email protected] I don't get a kick back for mentioning his name but maybe I'll get a new mantel over my fireplace for mother's day at the family rate?!?
There is one more thing that I might have to do in my bathroom - and that's this cabinet...given to us by our neighbors, it holds towels, toiletpaper, kleenex and an assortment of garbage...I think I might paint it and definitely it will get new knobs...but I'm not feeling the motivation just yet.
