My soon-to-be 24 year old boy and I have an arrangement....he doesn't pay rent and in return he does my bidding...when asked, no excuses...like vacuuming, running errands, cleaning bathrooms, etc., he's basically a slave at my beck and call. I've always thought this was an extremely fair arrangement and he always held up his end - until recently when he began slacking off and - gasp - actually saying NO!! Yes, hard to believe isn't it?! So I had no recourse but to put him on notice - as of June 15th he's going to start paying rent - to the tune of $200 a month. And that $200 a month would nicely cover the cost of a cleaning lady except that I could never have a cleaning lady - I'm the type that would clean FOR the cleaning lady - then she would have nothing to do when she came and I'd have to make her a nice lunch, offer her a chair and a magazine and give her a neck massage for her trouble to drive to my home - sick, I know. I'm actually going to put the rent money in the bank...so IF and when he does move out I'll have plenty of money to redecorate his room! Oh who am I kidding - I'm sure I'll never see a dime!
Last week my mom and I went "thrifting" and I found this old golf towel and thought it would make a great pillow for my boy's room - he's an avid golfer so I know he'll get a kick out of it...
His headboard is from a garage sale - it's a very heavy old iron headboard that I snagged for $20! When we tied the thing to the top of the car I pulled on the rope and the leg of the thing slid straight into my forehead - the giant egg that ensued went away after a day then the black and blue bruise appeared and now, three weeks later, the yellowish remains of the bruise are finally fading...I'm no longer looking like a cyclops...
The boy's bathroom is finally finished...it was 99% finished last November but today the very last detail was installed and so it is officially done...I love the color of the granite countertop! It's my favorite thing in the house - the floor and shower is tiled with travertine - I am so happy with how it all turned out! Our bathroom is almost finished too...just one more thing to do then I'll be able to show you pictures of it.
