It started out so hopeful...a family get-together at my brothers...he was cooking his infamous fajitas and his wife was making flan - from a wonderful recipe their friend had given them. The other night I had a sampling of this flan - it was rich and creamy and had the most heavenly of caramel crusts...
Like I said - it was hopeful....but something happened in the oven - this was the end result - but I must make a confession ...I noticed a fan in her oven and asked if she had a convection oven - she said no but there was this switch she'd never used....so I told her to use it - to help circulate the air - not even thinking that OF COURSE IT WAS A CONVECTION OVEN and the flan would cook much faster....so the end result was not entirely her fault. (When I get home I'll remake the flan and if the results are better I'll give you the recipe.) The fajitas did turn out and they were excellent...I have no recipe to give you because my brother is the original accidental chef - he uses different ingredients each time, never measures and hopes for the best. My brother, the gun dealer, is also a dentist - and I'm fairly certain that the last tooth he worked on in my mouth is now receiving messages from Taiwan, he still enjoys tormenting me ...which is probably why he brought out the guns - he knows I hate them ...this is his Smith and Wesson 500...I have no idea what that really means except that it's huge and it could bring down a rhino... apparently he lives in fear of a rhino attacking him, else why would he need such a thing?
No baby yet....the mister flys in tomorrow and he is even less patient than I am...he'll want to assess the situation and then he'll want to take charge and get results...it will not amuse him that a baby, yet unborn, has the ultimate power.
