Are you feeling it? The pressure? The stress? The joys of Christmas? I am....and I'm loving every second of it! With everything there is to do - from shopping to wrapping to decorating to baking to mailing - there is never any time for a new project....but what would the holidays be without adding just a little more?
When I spotted the pattern for this Christmasy table runner - it looked so easy...so fast....and I thought it would be such a cute gift to give....well, all of the above is true... if you:
1. Don't have the TV tuned into the Food Network while trying to sew....how can one concentrate on keeping right sides together when Paula Deen is adding butter to a butter cake?!
2. Don't talk on the phone to your sister while trying to cut exact-sized pieces of fabric - unless you really want to wear a band-aid and you're not squeamish about a little (more) blood added to your cutting mat.
3. Don't stop half-way through the reading of the instructions - thinking you KNOW what comes next - unless you love to UNpick....which is not all that bad if you're still tuned into Food Network and Giada is making her Parmesan Potato Pancakes - my mom would add a little nutmeg to these....
The pattern is called Christmas/Evergreen Table Runner designed for The Quilting Loft by Michelle Brown. The finished size is 18" x 42"....the yo-yo's were a necessary addition to the tops of the trees as they didn't come to nice little points like the pattern calls for....I believe Alton Brown was explaining how to make royal icing which I needed for my Christmas Gingerbread House....it would have been rude NOT to watch - and Me, Alton and points just don't work.
Anywho, it's done and packed and in the mail and hopefully the recipient won't look too closely at the workmanship - or lack thereof.
