The big blizzard last weekend turned our neck of the woods into a winter wonderland - I posted this picture last week, taken off our deck....but what a difference a week makes!
Two days after the blizzard the snow was gone and the rains came....and came....and came....and we had WATER FRONT PROPERTY! Our house value soared in an instant! If only we could have sold it between the hours of 9:00 am and 7:30 pm!!!
But now the lake has disappeared, along with the ducks that flew in the minute the water started to rise. There used to be some kids in the neighborhood who would dam up the drains in the park and then the lake would stay for days and days -apparently those kids have grown up and gone on to bigger crimes.

I participated in a Handmade Holiday Swap this year - and my gift came today! All the way from England! I was very excited to open it and even more so when I saw the beautiful, handmade pictures and exquisite buttons....I felt like I had hit the jackpot!
Thanks to Karen in England for her wonderful gifts! My photos just don't do them justice....are you listening Santa? Somebody needs a new camera!!! Karen is a Contemporary Embroidery Artist, check out her things at: www.karenruane.blogspot.com Her work is very beautiful and I am honored to have something from her!
She sent me two pictures, shown here, that are suitable for framing and the most beautiful embroidered buttons! I tried to get a shot of them but alas - too much glare!
Heard a joke today at my book club - a woman sits down next to another woman on a park bench and says, "oy" ....a few minutes later another woman comes along and sits down next to the two woman and says, "oy"....the first woman then says, "Enough about the kids, how are you?!"
Oy....that's the word for the day!
