We had a great quilt show at our meeting, even though there were only 8 of us there! And yours truly actually had a quilt to show!
This is a raffle quilt for an American Hero Quilts fund-raiser later this month. (If you'd like to purchase a raffle ticket or two, shoot me an email.) Our group made the blocks, I sewed them together, Barbara Jackson quilted it and Helen put the binding on - a true group effort! Helen then washed and dried the quilt - and to her horror - some of the reds bled! She even used "color catchers" but nothing helped. Here's the thing, they bled in such a random way, you'd never really know! We didn't think it mattered one bit...instead of a red and white quilt, it's now a red, white and pink quilt...and it's dang cute!
This enormous quilt (it's almost king-size!) was pieced together by Marsha from random blocks our group made a few years ago. She had a really hard time getting the blocks to line up but all in all, it's a great quilt and it will be donated to AHQ. Thanks Marsha!
This is my French quilt...so called because it's made from fabric I purchased in Nice, France last year, except it's really a Spanish quilt as the fabric was part of a special line from Spain! So maybe I should say it's a Frenish/Spanch quilt?! All but two of the fabrics are 100% linen...so I expect this will shrink quite a bit. I hope to get this quilted and bound soon...but you know how that goes!
This bright and beautiful quilt was made by Stephanie...and the centers of each block were pieced from the stuff we threw away at our last sew day! Stephanie is not one to waste anything...and look what she did with our trash! This top will also be donated to AHQ - nicely done Steph!
Another look at Helen's wonderful pinwheel quilt - this time though, it's all finished and you can see the very fun backing Helen used...that gal sure has an eye for color! This one will be part of Helen's collection...and I'm thinking I need to flatter Helen and make one of these for myself!
Marsha made these quilts...the red and white quilt is a raffle quilt she made for a fund-raiser she is sponsoring to raise money for Parkinson's research. If you're interested in buying a raffle ticket for this quilt, shoot me an email. The circle quilt is a wedding gift Marsha is making for her newly married daughter...it's for their bed and it's HUGE! I'm sure they will love it!
This amazing quilt was made by Barbara...just look at all that work! She pieced the diamonds! I love diamond quilts, but they are buggars to work with! Great job Barbara, it's as perfect as all of your other quilts!
Denise is so smart - she's already working on Christmas gifts! These adorable table-toppers/wall-hangings are her latest projects...click on the pics to see a larger version, the embroidered snowman is adorable!
That's it! Another great show followed by a lovely lunch at the Aussie's home...a feast for all the senses!
