Max is such an amazing little boy! He loves things that move, especially if they spin or go around and round...and while he's still a huge Thomas The Train fan, he loves helicopters! Max is also a bit quirky/stubborn when it comes to getting dressed...he will only wear shirts with trains or helicopters on them! So to avoid having a meltdown, the girl tries to always have one of those shirts clean and available for him - but sometimes that doesn't happen...
Grandma to the rescue! I found the shirt above at Kohls and I would have bought every one they had but they only had one - then the light bulb went off in my head! Using this shirt as a guide, I painted Max some new helicopter shirts!
Yeah, it's not exactly like the one I purchased but it has the rotor and blades...two of Max's favorite things, so I'm pretty sure he'll be thrilled!
This helicopter is thanks to a clip-art design. I used acrylic paints that had been watered down just a bit. I slipped a magazine inside each shirt so the paint wouldn't bleed through to the back. When the paint was dry (in about 30 minutes) I used a dry iron to help set it...Max is going to like this one!
Max's biggest problem now will be to decide which shirt to wear! That's a good problem to have!
Have you been to Cafe Press? They sell everything imaginable with any design you want on it...I first went there to find helicopter shirts for Max, and they have dozens of them, most starting at $28 each!! All four of these shirts were less than that! (Thanks Kohl's and JC Penneys!) Thirty minutes, a little paint and morning meltdowns avoided! It's all good!
Looks like he could use some new pajamas! And a bed! Oh how I love that little boy! Sweet dreams!
