The Aussie will love this - a bigger ironing board for pressing her sheets! (I'll admit to having a momentary lapse in judgment where I ironed my sheets...fortunately I was able to snap out of it!) All of you quilters out there will love it, too! Bigger is better, as we all know, and it's just as true with an ironing board as it is with everything else! Think of how easy it would be to press tablecloths and quilt tops!!! I'm almost drooling over the idea! Of course, it's not mine so I can claim no credit other than being the messenger...while at Sue's home I noticed her iron board...it is much larger than mine.
We begged to know more and discovered it would be SO easy to make! This is a piece of 3/4-inch plywood that is cut 26"x56". It has two 1x1-inch strips on the back side that fit on each side of the ironing board, holding it in place. The top is covered with batting and in Sue's case, a custom-made ironing board cover. But really, fabric, stretched and tacked over the edges would work just fine.
Isn't it great?!? I don't know if I've been this excited over anything since the mister came down with laryngitis!
