I know I shouldn't celebrate just yet because it's not quilted and probably won't be until next Christmas but the top is done and I'm so happy with how it turned out I can't help myself! The house blocks were from a Christmas block exchange hosted by Freda's Hive, maker of wonderful quilts and all 'round wonderful person. This exchange was LAST year...so really, to have them sewn together within a 12 month span is pretty remarkable!
Sorry for the blurry picture - it's hard to stay steady when you're jumping up and down with glee! The center block is a total rip-off from a picture a quilting friend sent me - and if she'll tell me where she saw it I'll gladly give them credit! It's super easy and fast because the circles are machine-stitched, raw-edged applique! There is a row of houses across the bottom, too, but they got cut off in all my excitement!
The Christmas cottages are all different and so cute...of course, there is one that was pieced together incorrectly...bottom right...and it's the one I did...some people learn from their mistakes but I prefer to keep making the same ones over and over...maybe in my next life I'll be able to read directions! Now really, isn't this just stinkin' cute? Makes you smile, no? Happy Christmas to me!
